Default GS-R with Tye R cams with a JRSC on it.

I have a JRSC on my car and i am running the stock six pounds. My car is loosing booast mid range. I think it is my type R cams i have to much overlap. I was wondering if any one is running this on their GS-R. Should i put my stock cam in or should i tune in the type R cams i also have skunk 2 cam gears.

what kind of exhaust and cat are you running?

yes, tunning the cam gears might help as well.

ok, i was thinking your exhuast could be holding you up, but if ya got a test pipe/dc, and only 6 psi. i dont think that could be causing the prob.

I ran a si intake and ITR exhaust cam with the gears set at 0 on the intake and -2 on the exhaust. I made quite a bit of midrange and high end. The car revved to 9k and pulled all the way.

Hey man thanks for the input. Do think i should take the intake type R cam
out and put GS-R intake cam or just leave R cams and tune them.

try to tune the overlap out of the ITR cams rather than giving up on them. They should make more power than your stock GSR units.

JR also didnt used to like higher boost levels and thought a map controller was a sufficent tuning device.

Times change and so does tuning. I know for sure that the cam setup i had made power over a stock Si setup.

Speedworks801 on H-T is the one who actually dynoed the cam setup and after talking to John on the phone for a long time he was telling me how he made more power on his high boost JR setup. I tried the same thing and it worked for me, doesnt mean it works for everyone.

I am using the stock GSR cams tuned with Hondata and Church Automotive. As of right now, using stock boost, the intake cam is set to +4 while the exhaust cam is set at 0... and it makes great power...

As for your ITR cams, I don't know anything about them except what I have read and who knows if that is true or not.... get your car tuned to extract the most potential from it and that will probably be the only way you will find out...

Ahahahahha.
Don't look to jackson racing for any help on making more power. They're more interested in building kits for PT Cruisers than to even admit there is a group of true jrsc enthusiasts.

The bottom line is that an ITR cam has a longer duration, and higher lift. That equates to the ability to pump more air. With a positive displacement blower, that will mean more power (when tuned corrctly). The overlap issue can be dealt with by using adjustable cam gears. I saw 7whp with cam gears on my 6psi jrsc kit.

If you just install the intake cam make sure you tune the cam gears. I had just the intake cam and did not tune. It hurt more than it helped. Went from low 13's to 15.3's.

Removed and replaced with stock GSR cam and what do you know? Back to normal.
