After driving kinda hard on the motor it starts to breath funny rpms jump for 720-1600 up and dow up
Ok I don't really know what is going on i have gotten a couple of different answer but no luck so far. This is what is happening after racing some one or doing some free way driving the rpms start to jump up to 1600 and down to almost killing the motor up and down up and down. When I just sit there and let it idle for awile doing that the motor will correct it's self and go back to jsut idleing at about 650 to 750 rpm. Any one got any ideas. I have checked all the vacuum hoses they are all conected and have adjusted the idle to several different settings a the problem remains. When the car is cold i do not have this problem.
So i would greatly appreciate any ideas.

I have this problem too on colder days and it's very embarrassing at stop lights with the exhaust going bbbrrrrrr RRRRRR oomph... bbbrrrrrr RRRRRR oomph... bbbrrrrrr RRRRRR oomph...

I've seen the same thing, but can never get a definitive answer. I believe it is a sensor that goes bad, since it happens on preludes alot. Just don't know which sensor.

It can be a number of things. Almost all of them having to do with your throttlebody. There is a screw at the end of the TB that adjusts the idle, turn that to the right for a 1/2 turn and see what happens.

i've had the problem, and occasionally still have it. My idle control valve is the problem on mine. it randomnly chooses when it wants to mess with me. It got bad about it before, now it rarely acts up on me. it was either replacing it for around 200 new, find a used one, or sit on it and wait to see what happens. i chose to wait and its been somewhat okay for a while.

thanx for the heads up guys. And JG thanx but it's not that i have done every different postion it would go through to test the idle it has to do with one of my vacuum hoses i know it eather my vlapor valve or on top of the intake mainifold there is a unit or what ever you want to call it taht has two hoses running to it one on top and a bigger one on the bottom. I have been told it could be that. I still don't know.
Ps. any one ever herd of this happening ok u just barly give it gas and every once in awile the check engine light come on and you give it gas and the car back fires like crazy and wont go past 1500 rpm no matter how much gas you give it and idles way hi. You turn the car off and right back on and it's fine ??????? please help

Your right i don't have an ACURA because i am not stupid!!!! I know if i want to own a HONDA i will own a honda. Not a car that wants to be a honda is made by honda but not good enough to hold the name just raise the price for SLOWER car. But it ok im sure you like your slow car???? right ????
