i had just put on my new wheels and tire (used) and decided to test the grip. i approached a corner deaccellerating from around 40mph and stomped on the gas @ the apex. i did not let off the throttle and the car began to violenty oversteer, yet the front wheels were ripping. i had contersteered back and forth a good 3-4 times before gaining control. im kinda baffled on how my GSR oversteered so much on stock suspension, nevermind beong a FWD. just thought id like to hear your guys opinions and if anyone else has had a similar experience
did you go over a slide grade? my 2g did this on stock suspension also, it happens when the rear lifts during cornering around a bend that has a grade in it and goes back down in the apex... the rear inside tire lifts and over steers the **** outa your car...
It happend to me and my sisters bone stock del sol also. I could never get my 1g CRX to do it, might have ahd something to do with the solid rear axle...

You could have hit a soft shoulder, or the road may have been off camber. It's hard to say. I've put the *** end of my 98 RS out a couple of times. Generally, it understeers like a little piggy, but when the back steps out, it comes around fast. I believe that sort of behavior is not unusual in a vehicle with poor weight distribution (Tegs are 63/37
).
Believe me, snap oversteer may be unusual in most front drivers but it is most certainly NOT IMPOSSIBLE. I have had just enough experience with this to say:

That sounds pretty odd considering most FWD cars will only oversteer when you CLOSE the throttle, known as lift-throttle oversteer. When this happens, you can often straighten the car back out again if you get on the gas again. The front wheels will kind of "pull" the car out of the slide.
But keep in mind that stickier tires on stock suspension will actually make the car have more body roll thru cornerers (assuming everything else stays the same), so the inside rear tire might in fact have lifted off the ground.

those used tires may not have much grip left in them.
my g2 can oversteer quite well in the canyons, especially with my custom LTB and ST rear anti-roll bar.
