Default Oil change after storing?

ok here's the deal. I changed my oil (mobil 1) about 500 miles before storing it. I start the car every couple weeks and let it run for 15-20 minutes.

Now I know syntehtic oil doesn't go bad, so should I still change it when spring comes? Or can I drive another couple thousand miles before changing?

I would change it...all the condensation and stuff that accumulates in the block in storage is going to eventually fall to the oil pan and get in your oil.

Yep, change it...my car has been in storage for 2 months with 2 months to go...

And I wouldn't be starting it like you are....that's a pretty dry start so you are hurting more than you're helping.

I heard I should be starting my car weekly to keep the juices flowing. And I'm supposed to move the car around a bit to keep my tires from getting flat spots.

Well hey man, it's up to you....I'm sure as hell not gonna put my engine through that. Think of what's happening...all your fluids (oil included) is draining down...no oil where it should be, means dry starts....

As far as the flat spot thing goes....keep your tires properly inflated and they will be fine.

i start mine every 2 weeks to a month. I'm not sure what the alternative would be. Hell, if you let your car sit for 3-4 days in the summer you're definately gonna have the same thing (dry start). If you're close to the car i'd start it every week, but other than that i can't think of anything better. And yeah i also move the car when i start it to prevent flat spots, it's a good idea.

Flat Spots? Those will go away within the first 5 minutes of driving.

Also, putting a load on the motor and driving is different than just starting it up every now and then. Just let the car sit all winter--it won't hurt it.

Over-inflate them by about 5 psi and they'll be fine
