i know this question has been addressed before with no real definate answers, i know of this so called search function as well
I just watched a vid of a turboed del sol b-series running 1 BAR. it has the pissed off squirrel style sounding BOV. so i researched his name and it turns out he has a TIAL BOV. ??? I thought it was the HKS Super sequentials that made that noise??? I would really like to know what company makes that damn BOV. the normal SSSPPpppppp screach style BOV pisses me off, the pissed off squirrel sounding BOV is much more mellow and appealing to me. I know boost levels play a roll on the sound of a BOV, i know that certain settings on the BOV can generate different sounds as well. i just want to know exactly what one the PISSED OFF SQUIRREL sounding BOV is made by god damnit! thanks to all that help me out!

 

My Greddy Type-S sounds like a frantic-bird in heat when it blows off at full boost.

Is that what you're talking about?

haha i think thats a hks ssq. i dont like it

 

it cracks me up everytime i hear it, plus tuning my car with that high pitch screach hurts my ears after the first,,, um,,, yeah first time
so far as i had thought we have one vote for the SSQ and one for the greddy TS

sounds like a Tial BOV, i have a greddy and friend has HKS and they do NOT sound like that.

To me, it sounds like a Tial and it also sounds like its surging.

 

And i thought I had heard it all when someone compared the Type S to a "dolphin getting raped"

 

i didn't listen to the video but woulden't a 'pissed off squirrel' sound mean your beating the crap out of the compressor? you want a smooth sound not a chattering, like he said above, compresor surge.

 

yeah i know what you mean with the compressor surge, ive had it on my Rx7 for quite some time,(no manly size BOV ) i had a GT66 single on my 7, at 12 PSI it never sounded like this sound or anywhere near it. Ive seen many toyota supras with this same BOV (whatever one it might be) I know comp. surge on a 600 HP supra is a bad thing and therefor almost any turboed car owner would eliminate that. So i dont see why they would want compresser surge. Its entirly pointless, and harms the turbo, so thats why i ruled compressor surge out of the game. It has to be a certain BOV,,, or it can happen on any BOV with it adjusted incorrectly?Like too stiff of a spring, so it allows some pressure bleed, and some surge. ???

The secret is get a Tial and let it surge before it blows off to make this sound. You already know its a tial cause you said this in your original post.

The reason i think its a Tial, other than the fact that you already told us what it is, is because mine sounds like that on my teg.

Stupid question, but what exactly does compressor surge sound like?

My HKS is a fluttering chatter sound at partial throttle...if I give it 1/2 or more, then it gives a high pitched "paaa-*****".

 

Blitz has a sound like surge (what happened to that drink btw?) but it's normal. Many of the Supras have this bov and my brother and I have it and it makes that type of noise.

mine sounds the same way. i think the fluttering is just b/c you're not boosting enough for the bov to really work fully.

OMG that blow off is the weirdest sounding thing I have ever heard. It does sound like a little birdy. I guess I like a BOV to make an actual PSHHH like air releasing!
