i'd say whether or not it rubs depends on how wide of a tire you get, i know 18's on most 4th and 5th gen's don't rub with lowering springs if you have the right sized tire

I have 18's on mine and originally had 225-40-18 but it rubbed in the rear. I then switched to 215-35-18 and it fixed the rubbing. The only problem then is that there is little protection for your rims when you hit potholes

If you're only rubbing in the back, there's a small tab in the rear fenderwell where the rear quarter panel meets the rear bumper. You can dremel/sand out this tab and it should cure the rubbing.

I have 225- 40- 18 on my 98 base and honestly it rubs only when i turn or hit a major bump but then agian i have some crappy drop zone coil overs. Honestly next time im gonna get some 35 series tires the 40's look way to big on my car even with the OEM kit, hell im even shopping for 17's and if anybody has a picture of 5th gens with 17's please post.

I have a 97 Lude with 18s 225/40/18. I have a 1.8" drop and that seems to do fine. The tire and fender are flush. It also depends on the tires that you get as well. When I had Perrelli they didn't rub but when I got Nitto NT 555 the did a bit. Nothing dremel wouldn't fix.

Selling the springs that were on my car. They are RsR down springs with 1.8 drop. Just got Tien NA.

Have 225-40-18. No rub. I recommend 17's instead. 18" are less comfortable rides and i Have a harder time finding shops to do work. Most places I go to won't do alignments on wheels over 17". I only have 18's because they came with the car. My .01 cents.

215/35R18 tires are too skinny in my opinion. 225/40R18 with some decent lowering springs or coilovers is the best choice.
