new accord owner help!
Ok I have wanted an Accord for 3 years and finally got one a 1991 dx... but there are a few problems... under light acceleration it shifts a bit rough... but if ifeather the gas right before it shifts it shifts fine... there is a slight valve knock at low speeds... and making left turns hard there is a noise that sounds like 2 raincoats rubbing together... or like squeaking shoes on a tile floor... also whe ni floored it... it feel like someone adjusted the throttle cable
and used one that was too short or somethign
because once its floored... you cna feel the cable strech even more... also the lights for hte doors and taillamp open car graphic... every once in a while they will come on all of em... likes its doing a test... not a big problem... but id just like to know why... and also is a tranny cooler a good idea?

Ok as far as the accord purchase
. Under light acceleration its shifting rough....is it a AT or MT, I would try flushing your ATF (if its a auto) if not check your clutch fluid level, as far as the slight valve knock its how older hondas do it..mine is a 90 accord lx with 170K on it and its knocked a little bit ever since I have owned it unless its a shattering knock don't really worry about it unless it gets louder (may want to get a valve adjustment to be safe). The left turn noise may be either wheel bearing or cv boot going bad...does it click or just round like a rub? If you can feel the cable stretch (not sure how that feels) but if you open your hood you can either adjust it when the car is OFF and have some one push the pedal to the ground and see when it starts to tighten (you can only get WOT not any more). Your car diagram should do all just on start up if they do it only once and a while try looking for a short or bad pin in your doors or trunk etc. Tranny coolers are always good ideas....it promotes a better "working" environment for the tranny.....good luck and hope this helps.

thanks for the reply... the car doesnt click it just makes that sound when you go around a corner fast enough to cause moderate body roll... and it is a auto tranny... i think it may of been sitting for a while , but tis getting better... i will have the flush done anyway the knock isnt that loud, you wont notice it unless your listening...my old sunbird had the death knock
if it ever gets that loud... its time for a new car...

The sound its making when its turning could be your wheel bearing...and for the AT I would recommend since its been sitting for a while flush it...its always a good idea to have fresh fluid....you may want to check out (I am gonna add this when its time) but BG44 makes a ATF additive that is suppose to make shifts better and smoother....4th gen accords aren't known for smooth shifting. And the knock your hearing is the same in my car....its normal. How many miles on your car?
I am in the process of taking pics now... i have a pic from every angle... and when i go in to work im gonna get em developed onto cd
my plans are to keep her from breaking for now... after a couple weeks i ll learn the car and waht she can take... but rims tint alarm system and thats it for now...once shes clower to being paid off... like in 6 mo s then I start the engine swap...or maybe a rebuild with better internals...

I also would definetly say that in about 5-10k miles you may need a new wheel bearing. They are kind of cheap but can be hard to replace. Congratulations on the accord btw
