Default Bike dealer said bike was never dropped...but found out it was???

I bought my '02 f4i from a used dealer here in georgia. The sales guy told me that it has never been dropped, even the add said that. After buying the bike my friend laid it down. Stripping the plastics i found that all the plastics have been repaired and repainted.

What would u guys do? Just say ah well i got screwed?

thanks,
sam

Damn, that's a sticky situation. Since you dropped the bike, the dealer could claim that the bike was in fine condition and that you were the one who caused the damage. You could confront the dealer, and not let them know about your friend dropping the bike, and see if they're willing to work something out with you.

Otherwise, your friend better pony up some cash.

if i confront the dealer what am i suppose to ask for? I can tell them they sold me a dropped bike, but then what? do i ask for money?

Also how do i get proof that the salesman said it wasnt dropped? I couldnt find the add anymore either, it was deleted.

Maybe ask them to pay to see if the bike's frame is straight? And if not, pay to have it straightened. Tell them that you'd love to have a long relationship with them, but based on recent events you're not sure if that's a possibility.

Damn that sucks man . . . You could try sucking it out of him by asking about another bike there . . . Go with a friend and say something like "yea I bought a bike from you guys and you said it was in perfect shape, right? I appreciate the quality, what about this bike?" (point to another bike) . . . Damn bro, looks like you and I are just busy getting the shaft on our bikes, and both F4i's . . . sheesh . . .

well if the plastics are all rashed now anyway I really wouldnt bother doing anything. Since you're a wheelie kinda guy don't even bother fixing it and go do some wheelies.

I'm gonna call them up monday to see if they will pay for it to get checked out. The right fairing is not rashed up and u can still tell that it has been repainted. The only reason i started to stunt so often was cause my bike was already fucked up. If my friend just didnt drop it i couldve taken the bike back and told them i want a different one. I'm just stuck cause its been dropped on one side.

If i wasnt such a damn newbie when first buying a bike, i couldve seen that it was dropped before, damnit

When you buy used, you have to go over the bike witha fine tooth comb. Check bolts for stripage, fairings for damage, frame/swingarm for scratches, oil and fluid levels, wear in brakelines/cables, etc etc etc. Any bike could have 89478944 for all we know, all it takes is a cluster swap... good luck with ur situation

Yea, i was thinking the same thing. I guess its not so bad since i'll be getting new plastics either way. Just a little sketchy how they did that.

btw, it is a really nice stunt bike now...even tho i still suck!

Why the **** do you think everybody on this damn forum tells all newbies to get a ******* beater bike to learn on? Btw, just because you can't hold them liable doesn't mean you shouldn't speak with them about it. Worse comes to worse you can make them lose business and make his life miserable. If you have the time and the will that is.

I think people say to get a beater bike cause its cheap, lots of parts available, and doesnt matter as much if u drop it.

Just because i bought a bike that i didnt know was dropped does not mean at all that i shoulda got a beater bike. I know my limits and never exceeded them on my bike. Just because i said i was an idiot for buying a laid down bike has nothing to do with it. Who's to say that if i bought a beater bike, that i wouldnt have bought a really fucked up one as well. Like i said, i was a newbie, and didnt know much to look for.

Amen brother! You got the right bike man so don't worry about anybody. And don't worry about that situation with those dealers, coulda happened to even the most experienced. I don't call it newbie syndrome, I call it seeing what you like and wanting it no matter what syndrome lol I mean you prolly shoulda got a beater, but you got an awesome bike, enjoy it and keep it on one wheel

I had a VERY similar situation happen to me, I bought my first bike from a dealership and they told me the bike had NEVER been downed....So i bought it and rode it for over a year and then when i went to sell it i had 3 people slam the door in my face after doing a VIN check and finding out the bike had been thourhgh a 5,600 accident!!! That is a write off....the dealer lied to me and i felt like i had been raped, From what i know now i've heard you can contact the better business bearu (in canada) and they get in ALOT of trouble!! for shitty dealerships!!!!!

Since you were a newbie and didn't know **** about bikes, you either bring a friend who does or you pay **** for a known shitbike. Not $$ for a repaired **** bike. The other aspect of buying a beater...

Sorry boosted, not much you can really do. You're in the right but in reality, that's a different story. I would approach them about it and feel it out from there though.
