Stalling Probelm on a '94 Accord
Hi,
Newbie here. My father-in-law has a '94 with 120K miles on it. When he comes to a fast stop the car stalls and dies on him. If come to a rela slow stop then the problem does not occur. I have heard it might me an idle control motor problem. The plugs, distributor and wires have been changed. I am also looking for a service manual for this car. Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks.

I would start by checking into main relay....I only had that same problem in the summer and in the winter it would go away.....researched and researched (this was before my h-t days) and found main relays were the cause of a lot of stalling problems, also does it only do it when its warming up or when its fully warmed or does it not matter. It could also be a fuel filter or something as simple as needing some bg44K ran through it. Hope this helps.
i've heard good things about this bg44k, is this just a fuel system cleaner(as in added to the fuel tank) or something different. im thinking of getting some, cant hurt
i was having this same problem so i checked out a couple of things with my car, firstly i changed the fuel filter, then i checked the wiring in and around the motor, such as the plug that goes into the ignition coil, there are 2, its the higher and bigger of the two, check that and make sure its snapped in place, then from there check that the cable from your distributor to your ignition coil is properly plugged in, after this i would suggest you check your battery cables, the ones which connect to the battery, disconnect them one time, and check them all the way along the line to where they originate, i didnt do that myself but i had my mechanic check it and he told me that they should be insulated (the wires) and whatever was originally insulating mine had worn away and this could have been one of the reasons my car was puttering and stalling right after start up, he also told me that i should just check all of the electrical plugs and even fuses to make sure they are all snapped in place, it takes a few minutes and who knows, maybe it can save you time and ageda later !
