Honda Dealership being nice??
Hi all,
My friend just recently put down a deposit for a 2001 ITR (DC5) in blue with blue interior. They retail here in Australia for $43,900. Most places, you can drive it away for $49,000. Expensive!
Anyways, the dealer wrote up a contract and I don't know if he was dreaming or on some crack. On the contract, he wrote down that the total of the car with extra's was $38,300 in many places.... and you know, get the pen and sign the dotted line. So basiclly the car is his when you sign that contract. Car arrives in 2 more weeks. Obviously, someone has made a big boo boo! The dealer called him up 30 mins later telling him that they made a mistake but did not tell him to bring the contract back.
All I want to know is,
Legally, the car is his for $38,300?
He signed the contract and agreed on paper $38,300?
That's saving 10g's!
What do you guys think? will he get away with it?

You couldn't call it " getting away with it " when the dealer wrote up the contract..
Sounds like a breakable contract to me, but I'm not a lawyer.. Think about it..
what if the price was written up for $89,000 ... Would that be binding on your
friend? I wouldn't think so.. but to prevent a big messy legal battle the best
solution may be a compromise... say... take the profit out of the deal to appease
the customer, and sell the car for $41,000, or so... Great bargaining leverage!
There's probably miles of fine print on the backside of it. Check that out and also make sure that it has the appropriate signatures. His, the salesman's and it probably has a space for the sales manager's signature as well.
All that being Ok, he's probably home free!
