Default Are newer parts better?

Has Honda technology improved from gen to gen? Would I be better off getting stock components from a newer model car as replacement even though they are more expensive? If not would you be able to save money by buying older cars parts?

i have no idea what your specifically refering to. but as a rule honda has made their cars heavier and heavier. this has been due to costs cheaper to make stuff out of steel than aluminum. ect....replacement factor. maybe that might shed some light. other than that....how about a specific family of parts?

I need to replace the steering rack on my car and the one from another 4th or 5th gen accord would fit, or I think they would. Also clutch components water and oil pumps are on my to do list

Cost cutting has been a factor in the weight, but moreso the weights have gone up significantly because the cars are simply dimensionally larger. There are also stricter crash test requirements, necessitating more or larger side-impact door beams and beefier bumper designs.

I personally can live with a few hundred pounds of dead weight in my car if it means that I can survive an unfortunate accident.

If you're sure that they'll fit and work properly, I'd prefer the newer parts to the old.
