is this a legit jdm prelude VIN number?
I purchased a jdm h22 swap and the car's VIN it was supposed to be from is BB1-1xxxxxx. Is there a way that I can check this to see if the engine serial and VIN match? Does anyone have problems registering their JDM motors? The only reason I need to know this is because I want proof that my motor was not stolen.
Since Feb 2001 restriction where put into place in Japan to confiscate then CRUSH any car that is attempted to be exported without official de-registration documentation. Also it is impossible to obtain an official de-reg document if the car is not legit.
BB1-1xxxxxx is the standard format yes and you can check to see if the car has been in a headon by looking at the vents. If its got a single fin then it is a BB1
if it has twin fins then they have been replaced with bb4 vents.
When I imports a car I have a BIMTA certificate issued ensuring the car is legitimate.
See if they're giving you a BIMTA with it then its 100% bona fide Legit

its a swap, oh, VIN sounds legit but Im not sure if they stanp the chassis number on the block?? on the front though it wont say H22a1 etc it'll just say H22a next to the rubber bung thats removable near the zorst header. If they gave you the air box the look on the top cover of the air box as it will have a very tasy looking Japanese food menu (or is it just a spec list?
)hope that helps. Check ECU for labels also and the inside of the fusebox (if included) will also be 99% jap symbols
I know this is off topic, but I need help with this as well. I bought a K20A from Japan and US Customs is holding it. I got in contact with a person in Washingtong DC who said to get her the year, make, model, and the VIN number. I have everything buy the VIN number. How would I go about getting this information?
