This is the HF manifold that im modifying for turbo. Just sandblasted it today, was full of rust. still needs turbo flange and Wg flange.....

don't forget to use the little L brackets that come on that thing stock. They help support your massive turbo and bolt right on to those threaded bosses on the bottom. Did you gasket match it or just clean up th inlets?

 

i just cleaned them. uh oh i think i threw those away couple days ago. i dont NEED them do i?

 

They won't prevent you from using it but I know you can at least put the passanger side one on and possibly the other one. The more bracing the better for durability. You could probably get one for free some where, or just make one out of L shaped steel stock. bracing the turbo directly might be even more productive though...

Sometimes those mounting holes are not there on some blocks for those supports, FYI..

You grinded off the mounting holes for the stock heat sheilds...heheh.. What do I get?

Looks good.. Im doing the same exact setup as you are.. I just finished building my adapter and tonight im going to do some fitment to see how everything looks.. Ill try to find access to a digital camera and post some pics of my adapter plate.. I hear you should really port out the openings to the exhaust manifold gasket..

Sure thing.. Ill also break out the measuring tape so you can get an idea on the dimentions of the adapter.. Have you been to homemadeturbo.com and looked at what they have, thats where I got the idea from.. Use 3/4" mild steel for the adapter..

ya ive gone there. they got some nice adapter plates. i kinda wanna make my own though. where can i find 3/4 in steel?

Errr.. Dont know where to find the steel at.. My dad is a machinist .. So thats where my adapter came from but I would say to try maybe a machine shop or metal supply company or something like that..

Ohh.. And by the way I did the test fitting this weekend.. PAIN IN THE *** is all I can say.. There is less then 1/4 inch between the radiator and the compressor housing right now.. I had to bend out the radiator support a little bit to make it fit in there.. But then again my radiator support was bent in a little bit from an accident the previous owner had with it so yours might not need any bending.. I couldnt get the turbo and manifold together past the radiator so then I tried putting just the turbo in there without the studs from the adaptor plate and it fit.. But its a pain to put the turbo on to the manifold working around the radiator.. I found the simplest way was to pull the radiator out of the car and install the turbo and manifold as one piece and then put the radiator back in.. If you do that leave the compressor housing loose so you can rotate it a little bit to get the radiator in..

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to let you know the problems we ran into and how we fixed them..

I saw that they are on mine when we did the turbo test fit this weekend.. I have a d15b7 block from a 93' civic dx..
