supercharging an 2004 S2000...
Comptech came out with their version of the supercharger for the 2004 S2000 today. The supercharger w/ the aftercooler kit will cost about $5500. I just recently installed a 00-03 Vortech kit onto a 2004 S2000 with the aftercooler. Everthing fit pretty good. It will only make approx. 6psi instead of 8psi. because of the lower redline. Has anyone else supercharged their S2000 with the Comptech of Vortech systems? yes the kit on the 2004 makes less hp about 20 beacuse of the lower redline.

i just heard from a member on s2ki, that he spoke with someone at comptech and they said that the '04 was making less power because of the lower redline and not being able to reach full boost.
That member said that comptech may come out with an upgraded pulley that you can buy for the '04 to make more power. It will be an upgrade and not a replacement though...

I don't think superchargers spool since they are belt driven.
It shouldn't matter if they are only making 20 less "crank" horsepower. The 04's are laying down much better numbers to the wheels than the previous models. Honda seems to be pulling the same stunt that Ford pulled with the new Cobra. New Cobra's are laying down around 380 WHP and they are only rated at 395. As for Honda, they claim to the new S2000 only has 240 HP, but it's putting down around 215-220 WHP. That converts anywhere from 255-270 HP. That should make up for the loss of revs. You can refer to http://www.vtec.net for more information.
note: The 270 HP would be a freak. TOV did dyno a few that were making 270 HP at the crank.

You're joking right? How else do you suggest superchargers are driven?
I suggest you research centrifugal superchargers.
From the Comptech website:
"The kit includes the blower unit, aftercooler, aftercooler radiator, waterpump, all mounting brackets,
fuel system upgrades (including an in tank Fuel Pump & Comptech FPR),
all hoses & drive belt and the Comptech ESM unit."

Did you do the instillation yourself? I am considering supercharging mine once my husband's car is out of the shop. If you did do it yourself, was it difficult, and could a novice do the instillation. Or should I just pay a shop to do the work for me?

a shaft drives the super charger wihich is driven by a BELT hence belt driven i dunno how else you could run a super charger never heard of a gear driven one but who knows might be out there just my 2cents
