black smoke when cold...... why?
i bought a vafc and got it tuned cus my car was gettin black on the back of the car. well..... it didnt fix my problem even though i tuned it. i BELIEVE that it only does this when it is cold cus that is the only time my friends say something about it. they always say its not smoking when its warmed up... anyways enough of the rambling.. what could cause this? just left over fuel from when i shut it off?
this black on the back of the CW is just getting annoying and looks terrible
thanks

Are you talking about fallout from your own exhaust? (i.e. little black specks on your rear bumper? or a big black sploch around the exhaust?)
Is it just a puff of black smoke when you start the car or something that is constant for a while?

it puffs a few times when i gas it in the morning put thats it. it just makes the back of the car look so bad. was wondering if it was an easy fix like spark plugs, etc
Well, i dont know a whole bunch about the issue but i would not sweat it. When im on the car hard it puffs black smoke when I shift, And when I start it cold and blip the throttle.
I still dont sweat it beucase my buddies brand new s2k puffs black smoke when he shifts in high rpms with only 7k miles on the engine
Dont worry about it, our heavinly revving engines are bound to consume some oil. I dont think its serious.

its unburnt fuel from poor combustion, your car is prolly to rich on start up, the car does not use 02 sensor on start up till it is warm (hence term heated O2) so it is your inputs into VAFC for additional fuel are added to the stock warm up enrichment program in your ecu. to correct this I would remove the additional fuel on your VAFC up to start up rpms, where is you starting idle like 1400rpm???. why did you add fuel there. dont do anything on your vafc till like vtec is in, if anything lean it out a couple percent down low . your cat also doesnt work at peak efficiency till warm also.
PS no such thing as left over fuel from shut'n off, uness you have leaky injectors.
