Should MltDown Get Rims or Toda B's?
alright, so MltDown (member on this board, CW 98 R) wants to get some gay rims. So I said, to hell with rims, Toda B's my friend. He says rims with tires will cost him $2400. I think for $2400 you could get a nice Toda B setup! so What do you guys think? Help me convince him rims are a total waste of money!
I don't think they are a total waste of money, but can definitely be put off...for a set of rims that is $2400, it's either gotta be some lightweight JDM goodness, or a set of 18" bling bling ****....hopefully not the latter...
either way, (by this I mean toda's or GOOD rims, not blings) it's a good investment.

Thanks a ton for the unbias poll Chris
Anyhow, for those where are wondering what rims I want to get, they are 16" silver regamasters. $2400 is just a ball park figure for the rims, tires, shipped and balanced.

You gotta be joking?
you think rims are worth it more than a Toda B setup??
Well, hey, at least you will look good when you loose to those Mustangs and RSX-S's ;-)

I got my spoons from modacar.com decent price and definitely a good choice...the only other wheel I would consider at this point would be the Mugen MF-10's...
I actually stumbled on the spoons..I had been waiting for Racing Hart CP-035's for about 8 months and they never arrived...

Mmmm...both are great...
I would say that it would depend on your tuning resources. Wheels are a bolt on mod that will instantly bring you an acceleration, braking, and handling improvement. However, to get a significant improvement from the B package, there's a lot more involved than removing and tightening lugs...
Decisions, decisions...
DV- who loves his Toda and Regamaster setup and believes this is too close to call

get the regamasters. The stock cams are pretty decent. God got almost 190whp out of his stock cams when he owned a type R. some people don't even get that much power out of toda B's- thats cause they don't bother tuning them on a dyno they just throw them in.
There is nothing worthwhile about spending $2400 on some 16" Regamasters and some normal street tires. Unless you need 16s to clear some massive brake combo, what's the point? It won't outhandle a car with 15s and great tires. 15" tires are way cheaper, wheels are cheaper AND much much lighter. There's just no reason to go 16s.
Well, here's a reason: "I want to show off my trendy Regamasters on my ITR."
You really have to look at what you're doing with the car before you spend that much money... geez. Of course, I guess if you're just showing off your car, that's $2400 well spent...

16" Regamaster weighed in at 11.2 lbs.
15" stock ITR gunmetal weighed in at 15.7 lbs.
Trendy, I think not
Also, I disagree with your point about the R not handling better with a high-quality 16" wheel/tire combo. The difference is remarkable...

Skye makes me laugh at times. Plus Skye, didn't you know that with just the Rega's a stock ITR will run 12.9's? DUH!

Mltdown,
Before you do anything, contact me. I have 16" Spoons in stock as well as Regamasters. $2400 with tires on Regas seems a bit high.
Thanks.

now I want to hear this...???
again, I don't know the story, just taking a wild *** random guess
Who is matt jensen? I'm serious though. God claimed he got 188.8whp with JDM header, test pipe, custom 3" exhaust, bored out TB, VAFC, and cam gears. did anyone see the dyno plot?
What is so trendy about Regamasters?

And the tires are "normally" heavier so that's even more weight towards the outside, which is a lot worse than weight closer to the center of the wheel. And you think it won't slow you down?
Have you seen the post in this or the Integra forum that says "I went from GSRs to 16" Regamasters and it slowed me down"? Guess not.
*shrug*
Lot easier to keep the stock wheels or get some Rotas for $400 and buy some nice Kumho V700s, A032Rs, RS303s, Azenis, etc, etc... but hey... Regamasters aren't trendy.
