Boosted B21A
OK...i have a 1989 Prelude 2.0S, 5 speed....with no motor. i am going to be ordering a spec B21A found in 90-91 prelude si's soon. I believe the compression ratio is 9:0:1. (correct me if im wrong) My question is...at 9:0:1 compression, on stock internals, how much boost will this motor handle??? thanks a lot!
check out the 3rd gen section at preludepower.com i'm boosting my stock jdm b20a within the next week or so. what it comes down to is fuel management. i will be running aem ems. also save your money and just get a b20a the sleeves r stronger than b21a i had both and wish i would have save like 300 and got a jdmb20a the first time. but if u plan on building the engine up then i guess go with the b21a cause the block webbing is stronger
The B21 is known to be a crap motor, because it burns oil, and does so rather quickly..
if you are going to build the B21, then go for it, otherwise if you are going to work with stock internals, i would definitely recommend the B20A
nippon motors sells them for a good price, i got mine for 725 shipped for the long block, i think the full comeplete swap is just a bit more. unless you already have a tranny laying around for this motor.
like he said, check out preludepower.com there is lots of info there pertaining to boosting 3rd gens

the B20A head will bolt right on, but not the B20B/Z from the CRV, or the B18 head.
different series of motors. the prelude Bmotors are different is many ways.
preludepower.com or 3rdgenprelude.com should have specs somewhere
