F crower cams.
well i thought only the vtec guys had problem with crower cams. but nope, i have a LS with crower's 402T. they SUCK big time. my intake cam broke as i was driving home. man i hope and pray that no valves were bent. i'll post pics as soon as i take the cams off.
Damn! Good luck with that head.
I've heard of stories where older Crower cams broke, but the newer ones are supposed to be totally different. No breakage with those. Did you happen to buy them used or something?

Huh? The only thing you gotta watch out for is the valve lash. I usually make them a bit loose in the beginning. Then I do an adjustment. You don't break in cams. What's there to break in?
The only thing that can break are the valves if they contact the piston. The cam breaking is caused by faulty manufacturing.

I think you break them in by letting them idle for like 10 minutes, thats how my friend had to break in his JUN III's

there's not a real necessity to break in cams by letting it idle for 10 minutes, what real difference will it make if they are sitting at 1500 RPM's for 10 minutes then backing out of the garage and leaving it under 3000-4000 while it warms up to Normal Operating Temp? Bottom Line, if the cams are going to break, they're going to break.

this is what i ment i was told buy Mr crower (back in the day when the 403 cams just came out) that there is a break in period when installing them so you won't warp them, it was like for 5 or 10 min can't remember you have to rev the motor up and down not pass 2k
we did it and never had a problem just my .02

Now.... I'm not sure about Crower cams for Hondas, but they're considered to be one of the better DSM cams available. I can NOT emphasize enough how important it is when they're installed to follow proper cam installation procedures!!! I.E. when you're removing the old cams, to break them loose in the "X" pattern working your way out from the center, then doing THAT in a two step process to ease the tension etc. Then repeating this process in reverse when you're installing the new cams.... Very VERY important!
You must have done something wrong on your install, there are hundreds of guys on g2ic that run crower cams and love them. I've NEVER heard of one breaking over there.
Who installed the cams by the way? It might not have been the cams fault. Like others said, it might have been install error. A simple thing like overtightening the timing belt could have snapped the cams. And what the guy said above is correct, i've read through a lot of Crower posts over at G2IC and those guys love those friggin things.
the cams were installed by JG. when i got my head back i checked the torque specs on the caps and checked for valve clearance. everything was perfect, it was NOT installer error. crower is sending me another intake cam. but i'm not installing them. i'll stay with the stock ones.

even though i have heard of them snaping before, id still intall it. if there replacing it for free, why not? if it breaks again, have them repace it again, and then put your stocks back in.

Yea but the thing is, when his snapped, he was lucky it didnt damage anything else. If by chance he puts the new ones in and they snap again, it could take out his whole motor, thats IF they do snap again. I wish i knew exactly why the cams broke though, i was planning on getting the 403's for my 93 LS in the future, read a LOT of good reviews so this ost kinda makes me iffy.

That get you no where. Brian Crower is worthless.
This is like the 2348203948308209284309840834023840843 time I've heard about a Crower cam breaking.
However, I've heard about Skunk, Jun, and few other companies breaking once in a blue moon, but I've never as many as Crower.
IMO, stay the hell away from this company.

has anyone thought about the fact that these are turbo cams??? I mean, yeah there is no reason they should be breaking, but perhaps it was a boost problem or something along those lines/??
and btw, i have crower 403s and will be installing them in the next 1000 miles.
also what did you notice when you took the cams out???
