Video complete engine or tranny replacement step by step.
Hello. How many people would be interested in purchasing a video of exact and most detailed step by step procedures with dialog and tips as you remove and replace on engine or tranny or even an engine swap? How much would you pay for something like that? And who needs a video of what?
why's everyone hating on these vids? I mean they serve a purpose. For us semi-mechanical illiterate people, these vids would go along way if we were to pursue a big project ourselves instead of bringing it raping mechanics.

thats the problem right there
if you suck with wrenching anyway you shouldn't even touch a car
it will cost more to have someone fix what you messed up, than bringing it to the qualified people to begin with
if you can't fix it with just a helms you shouldn't even hold a wrench
and if you dont know what a wrench is.....thats just sad

thats a bunch of ****. everyone has to start somewhere. im sure not to many of us are natural born mechanics. i think the videos are a very good starting point for someone that wants to learn ( and save themselves some money) to wrench on there own ride. what do you think helms is? a learning tool. some people may learn better by seeing it down, rather than reading how to do it. just my two cents.

that's very ignorant, that's like saying if you're going to crash a car, you shouldn't be driving...everybody learns differently, if you've ever had a job, you will realize alot of training is done through video...this is the same as learning to fix your car.

I may not be a natural born mechanic but I'm inspired and I'm good with my hands if I really try. I have a good set of tools and etc. I am more than confident that I can succeed in working on my car with the help of friends. With a visual and detailed explanation in a video makes it easier. I might run into some trouble but at least it won't be as drastic since the video tells you almost everything that's needed. What you said is very ignorant and offensive. Inspiration and dedication can go a long way. You know anything about? Life is a pursuit of knowledge. If I sucked at wrenching I'd still use it to relieve some anger and be forewarned it's going to touch something..............many times.

i stil believe...
would u drive a car that someone worked on the brakes...and wasn't 100% sure what he's doing
i wouldn't
some things i can see people doing on their own if they aren't good, with a tutitorial
but things like engine building , brake work....vital parts that are expensive..and parts that can kill u if they fail...like brakes....i wouldn't trust with someone who is unsure....or needs a tutitorial

you aren't one of the people i'm talking about
i'm talking about the guy who has an adjustable wrench, hammer and duct tape
who watches a video and thinks he can re build an engine.

so i guess you'd buy a house from Bob Villa
guess what , a family is suing him for a house that he built
cuz all the plumbing is fucked, every time the water is turned on the whole house shackes......
and guess what hes' not even a liscened contractor
would i have joe shome build my house? hell no.....i don't want him to go to a video tutitorial to build my house
if you want to **** up your own car...thats fine
i'm just expressing myself
and saying that people who are not mechinically inclined should be near cars
i have a friend that is going to school to be a mechinic, she is studying to be ASE certified
and guess what she called me to install her motor mounts for her...not help...but do it for her....and guess what she saw me install a set on the same car as her's ...and still wanted me to do it....
i'm talking about people like that.....
if your here, have the right set of tools, and not a moron....and have patience and time.....there are a lot of things that you can do to maintain your car
i am self taught
i've only been working on cars for about a year
i've installed suspension over a dozen times
i've rebuilt 4 trannies
ive installed over half a dozen clutches
i've built 2 motors, working on my third, and just from my reputation i have 3 more orders.....
am i bragging...no ...im' just giving example on how one person can grow to a very competent mechanic
and all this in about one years time since i started
you have to be at least decent with your hands, and have good understanding on how stuff works and why
then i belive you are quilifed to do these kind of jobs

my point was that everyone has to start learning somewhere. obviously you were one of them. you said you started working on cars less than a year ago. im sure somewhere along the way, you read a manual, or watched a friend do some work, and learned from it. all of us have.
i think making a statment saying, that if your not mechanically inclined, dont ever try to learn fix your own ****, because your hopeless, is very narrow minded. people learn at different rates. some faster, some slower.
ehhh, whatever you say though.

if you are questioning the quality of the videos this guy is trying to sell, that is a whole different story. this guy may be a professional and can school everyone on this board, or he could be a dipshit that doesnt know up from down.
you got completely off topic with the whole, if your not mechanicaly inclined, dont try, bullshit.

man I get what what you're saying and we're all just going at it in different ways. I think one of the famous philospphers once said something along the lines of: what you believe is the truth. Just thought your statement came out a little harsh. Could of reworded it a little.
We don't need no beef up in here but it's fun to bring in different points from time to time since it tends to get boring.........

true, be nice learn from somewhere. Im sure if the video is correct, how wrong can you go on completing the project? If you follow step by step. I would "sport" it. I wont mind being licensed or not. If it gets the job done. Then im set to go.
stop the stupid arguments
People learn different ways, just because you're talented and can fix X number of cars in X short amount of time, doesn't mean you're special.
some people are just slow learners, video can help them a lot.

OK. I see how this works, I post a simple question and it evolves into an argument of whos stupid enough to need a video. Well im studying to be a Mechanical Engineer and I have numerous engineering awards from high school. I own a 90 Integra and thought it would be a great idea to video tape a professional ASE Mechanic rebuild my engine and install a clutch. Basically install a longblock, transfer over all accesories, and then a clutch. Now I know for a fact there are MANY people out there who have tried to remove an engine in there garage for the first time and it ends up taking the whole day, some bloody knuckles and leaves one helluva mess everywhere.
First off whoever thinks they are mechnically inclined enough to remove their own engine is more than likely able too.
Secondly, Ive used a Hanes book before and sometimes wished I could see a video of what was going on so I wouldnt mess anything up.
Third a step by step detailed video is not just a GUIDE its a freakin detailed instuctional video on what to expect how hard to push and what to do next using what size and what to watch out for and on and on.
These videos arent just for anybody to use. These are for people who want to do it themselves and would feel more confident and more precisly informed after viewing a video.
But please people is this a great idea or what? Has anyone done it? why not? where can i get one?
Who thinks I should do this
Who thinks its a waste of FILM, a Waste of Knowledge, a waste of time for all those PRO self taught mechanics, or even a waste of my time to even bring this simple idea to the freakin table!

i don't think a certified ASE mecanic in his right mind is going to let you video tape him assemble your engine. If people started doing that, than where is the place for him.
