I put a Corvette fuel pump in a S-10 if that helps..
If you hook up the wires and rig it in, it will pump..
Did your car have a pump in the tank already or not?
If not,you need some stuff off of a fuel injected model..
Fuel injection also requires a return line to the tank which a carbed
model might not have had.. Sorry,I am a mechanic but I am not as familiar with
the earlier models..

84-87 crx used fuel pump NOT in the tank(carbed cars were mechanical while si models used a electric pump located in the left rear wheel area.)
So to answer your question...no an intank pump won't work...unless you are ready to do a certain amount of fabrication on your fuel tank
