Default 98+ Conversion...Now my headlights are dimmer?

As the topic says. My old '94 headlights seemed to put down more light than my new '98 headlights. Electrical system is fine and I'm using the same bulbs. The new headlights are crystal clear with no flaws. They're also aimed closer to the ground than before because I can barely see the road if they're higher. Now anyone's headlights driving next to me greatly overpower mine when it used to be the other way around.

Are they really this dim? I was expecting them to be brighter since they protrude out of the bumper more than the older style.

I actually bought it with other stuff. Front bumper with headlights, turn signals, one fender, and rear trunk panel for $550.

I'd say $400 is the going price around here for a complete front in good condition.

Try doing the 9005 lightbulb conversion. I read that they are brighter than the stock 9006 bulbs. Just with a little modification to the 9005 bulb, it should plug in right.

Mess with your headlight alignment some more. I'm sure that's your only problem. After my 98+ conversion, my HID's look a whole lot better.

I also noticed more "hot-spotting" than before despite the light output being so dim. People driving behind me put out more light than I do. I will be trying the 9005 conversion tonight to see if that helps at all.

i would try re-adjusting your headlights one last time before you buy the 9005

Default Update

So after the 9005 conversion, I can see just as much as I did with my old headlights and 9006's. Before this, I aligned the headlights to specs and I still saw no difference. I'm just happy to see better.

I think the culprit is the headlights themselves. Though they look practically brand-new.

I guess HID somewhere down the road is the answer.
