so i have a jdm s1 tranny (LSD) and i can just toss a LS 5th on there? i have a 300hp(400-500 later) turbo crx and boost hits at about 4800rpm 1 , 2 and 3 sometimes rip loose. no traction in 1 and 2. i top out at 130 and i shift too much. highway sucks.
sooooo what should i go with s1 with LS 5th or just a LS tranny 90-93 ys1 with Quaife? with that much hp the LS seems it would be better. iv also got a grind in 3rd (can i even get sycros for the jdm s1 i heard parts are hard to find with this tranny) so thats my situation assess my friends
the ys1 from integra is goginto top out at what 145mph?

The only problem I have heard with swapping in the LS 5th is when you are shifting from 4th into 5th, you will bog the car down slightly. It comes down to driver preference. If you can live with that then do it.
BTW, I have a YS1 w/ quaife........ Crusing in 5th at 4K on the highway sucks

well,,, i had that in my rex with ls/vtec,, the difference between 4th and 5th is huge,, and it kill any and all performance.....also when with that big of a difference the syncro has to do alot more work,, making 5th gear grind pretty fast.. i wouldnt do it... also,, as far as i know the 3,4,5 gear syncro out of a d series tranny will work,, or at least they are the same size,, so if yer gonna go straight,, ls,, fix the s1, and sell it...
with 300 hp it wont make much of a difference in bogging the car and such.
I would just get an ls tranny, with that much hp it would benefit you to have longer gears.

im pretty sure the YS1 is the 92-93 gsr cable tranny (its one of honda's shortest geared cable trannies made). I have that tranny in my 93 gsr.
Do a search for YS1, and you will get alot of answers/opinions about the YS1

many (almost all) of the YS1 parts also interchange with the newer hydro trans parts, so parts availibility isn't really an issue.
