My 1990 Accord LX motor is going bad. It might need a new head job. Right now it's not smoking, but it does burns a lot of oil. Any advices would be great. Thanks.

Are you planning on getting the engine or do you already have it? The only main difference between the 90 ex and 90 lx motors are the exhaust/intake manifolds good for I think another 10-15 hp....if your planning on buying the motor spend it on a h22 swap. And yes the motor will fit with tranny.

i think the lx is the f20 and the ex is the f22.. are you looking for advice on a new motor or what though?

 

Na the whole dx lx and ex are all f22a1 but some tweaking in between models gave more hp and tq...the se is the bomb though.

Does anyone know which F22 engine is in the 92-96 Prelude S...because i know someone parting it out and im looking for a dual runner IM

 

I think it was the h23......but not 100% certain on that

I pretty sure one of the models had a F series motor in it but dont know which one.

 

There was a jdm f22 (b series??) dohc that was available in the 4th gen preludes in japan.

 

Thank you all for the positive responds. Well, I will try to fix the motor that is in the LX right now to save some money, but if I have to get a new motor I will plus my brother had his friend looked at the car and he told me it might need a head gasket plus something about the valve thing.
