nope, a TSB never fixed the problem, owners had the problem come up again after a week. This is a new official petition that was created a week ago, we have 300 signitures so far.

Just a quick Q, even though alot of people sign up. What will be the outcome? I don't think Acura will do anything about this.

 

Our goal is to submit this to Honda/Acura of America, Consumer Reports, Edmunds and Car and Driver once we have enough signatures. MAybe we can get enough attention and have Acura fix it

 

is this for type s only? i think acura is aware of this problem, but they want to keep it silence

 

Mine grinds only when cold and usually when under 3,500 rpms...I can't stand the third gear notchy feeling...Sometimes it grinds also

Well,.On my OLD 02 Type-S,.Mine never Grinded,.although it did pop into 2nd gear w/ a *Clunk* type Feel***SOMETIMES***,..and believe it or not,.my 350Z did the same thing(sometimes),..almost same exact thing on 2 diffrent cars? Hmmmm
I kinda doubt they will do anything but maybe service it and thats it,.might come back,.might not?

The 03 Z was having trouble w/ the tranny's "whining" sound to it As well as it Really Grinding into 3rd @ High Rev's.Mine never did grind but I experienced the whine.
The tranny was so tight in there when you let off the clutch in Neutral it would kind of have a whine/whitenoise to it.People got new Trannys for their Z's and the whining went away but the 3rd gear grind(that Most we're having*not mine*,.came back even w/ a NEW & IMPROVED Tranny)

So I wonder what they will actually do>

yea when u go to the dealer, they don't say much on the matter. they even say it's from "abuse"
anyway: my 03 ep3 grindz into 3rd above 4grand

Mine does the same thing, the higher the revs, the smoother it gets into gear for me.

Suppose we reach or exceed the number of sigs. Will it be any different from every individual just walking into a dealership and try and have them fix the problem or will it just make the dealer more aware of it? There is a TSB out for this. If the petition gets all RSX owners a recall that would be much more better

 

i can relate to this problem
i did this in my 02 type S when i first got it, it wasnt too bad though
but as time went on and i got more comfortable with the tranny it hasnt happend very often if at all
i just think that maybe it justt takes some gettin used to
but if there is a prob wit the tranny i do think acura should fix it so i did sign the petition, i mean ****, we paid over $24K of our hard earned cash

 

Honda fixed my tranny. I dont know why Acura doesn't fix yours.

i have a problem shifting into 3rd, but if i make sure that the clutch is all the way down and shift into 3rd slowly, its not as much of a problem. but should this be necessary for a $24,000 japanese car? how many signatures do you want before you present it to acura?

 

i ve had my s for over 2 1/2 years and no grinding but im just over 20k. when did you guy start getting the grinding?
