Default my azenis suck!!! Which street tire is the best for drag?

my car has no traction whatsoever through all of first gear and part of second. I have new Azenis up front, but they seem to not be making a difference. I warm them up as usual but they still dont grab. I was thinking of going with the Bf goodridge T/A drag radials, but I want to know which ones are the best...

thanks in advance

The azenis, although a softer compound than most, have very stiff side walls (for autoX and lateral handling). These don't allow you to fully take advantage of a linear launch as with drag racing; they just won't flex enough (I believe). Even when letting out the pressure on mine, the difference doesn't seem to be very noticeable. If you got the Azenis for drag racing, then you got them for the wrong reason. The B/F drag radials will be one of your best bets for a streetable drag car. So, I think you're on the right track.

Second that , just pick up some B/F drag radials if you're mainly going to be having fun dragging

the Azenis are great tires, but cant be compared to drag radials at all .

Yup, Azenis and Nitto 555R's are more of an autox drag radial... Stiff sidewall for turning, yet sticky tread...

For all out drag and straight line traction, not worried really about taking high speed corners, BFG Drag radials all day long...

I purchased my Azenis for the sole purpose of having something on the street that was semi sticky if I needed it. I also needed something that would last,so Bfg's were out of the question. These tires were not designed for drag racing, but theyor have shown some results on milder turbo setups. Once your making a certain amount of power though all is null and void and they will spin just like any other street tire.

Basically what Im saying is if your looking for a tire to use and perform well at the track with BFG's are for you

BTW, with the 255*/50/15's and low suspension....expect some rubbing and you must take wide turns. the 205's are not as bad but they don't hook as well.

the azenis are definantly dope tires for Auto-X,(especially considering their price) but when it comes to drag racing they arent that great, IMO... they are even worse in the rain/snow!!

Nitto's suck when compared to BFG's or the Falken Azenis. The 14" Nitto hook better than the 15's becuz there is more sidewall on the 14's. i've had them both.

umm, who the **** tries to run summer rubber like that in the snow?

i hate when people say **** like that.
they are not meant for being used year round/in the snow. so why would you drive with them in the snow. (or try too)

rain they are fine.
just if there is a lot of standing water and the tread is low but what do you expect....by then they are pracitcally slicks

I hear ya brother, I have 16" SSR Competitions and love them but have
considered selling them cause tire selection just plain sucks. I think what
I'm going to do is keep them for street buy some 15" steelies at a junk
yard and get two bfg's for the strip. I heard nitto made a 205/45/16 drag
radial but they are rumored to be discontinued. My azenies have served
me well under stock conditions but after my turbo build-up this winter it
has me nervous about hook up. Figure I will wait till these burn and maybe
try some toyo t1-s 225/40/16's. Sucks you can't have the best of both worlds
cause I do more then just the strip, taking turns is just as fun. Oh well one of
the pains in the *** of a turbo honda owner I guess.

I had these last year on my turbo setup, for the $ they were awesome, not as good as Bfg but they had other categories where the shined. First I got them for $102 a piece 205/45/16, they saw 9k miles of pure street racing , countless burnouts, track events(twice), I managed a 2.1 with them on my 4th run at the track my first time. Best of all when my car was stolen they had 9k on them, and still had tread left I've also heard that they were discountinued but im about toconfirm that in a few minutes.

My solution is Im going to just buy some cheap light 15" wheels,and slap some Bfg's on them for track use

Well everyone seems to hate falkens and say they are bad for turbo hondas. I like my falkens.

What is the rest of your setup? I get pretty good traction with my falkens. I think a lot of it is driver. Dumping the clutch will let you roast tires on a 80 hp station wagon, but if you don't the falkens should be good. The key is what is the rest of your setup?

I have a hatch around 2100lbs with me in it and:
* good suspension setup
* roll cage in the car. The roll cage was a HUGE help for handling and traction.
* solid motor mounts
* quaife
* 16 inch wheels with 215 falkens on them
* tire pressure around 20-25psi

With boost set to where I make around 265whp, I get solid traction in third up with second gear scratching (quaife) but not breaking loose. This is shifting around 9-9.2k. With boost set up in the low-mid 300whp range, the tires will scratch and sometimes break lose even in third gear. But for most people, traction shouldn't be an issue at all with 215 falkens up to ~250whp as long as you have the rest of your setup right.

I run the 255/50/16 Bfg drag radials they barely clear but they fit
