ok so a body panel has surface rust and im about to sand it down to bare metal then paint it with some primer for the time being. most directions i read says that be sure, or clean off, there is no oil or grease on the area before painting. it says clean it with soap and water, but WOULDNT THAT CAUSE THE AREA TO RUST since water gets on it?

what steps do you guys use?

Wax and grease remover

Sand it down, then use wax and grease remover, then right before you spray run a tack cloth over the panel
