My tranny is a complete waste I was thinking of gutting it and taking it to the recycling yard to get some cash for it. Would this work?

 

How is it a complete waste?

 

The tranny case is cracked throught the middle and it has about 8 inch hole .

no its not aluminum. its cardboard and the synchros are made by uncle bens.

 

could I get a simple answer

 

Grab a magnet and see if it sticks. If it does it damn sure isnt aluminum.

 

yup it is aluminum. how much could you possibly get for it though? it's based on weight so would you even get over a dollar?

 

a pound of aluminum is 115 how much do you guys think it weighs?

 

Take it up there and find out. Theyre just going to pay you for the case anyway. Maybe 100 -150 bucks IMHO.

 

no way one pound of aluminum is worth $115.
anyhow, a tranny case is indeed aluminum but it might not be more than 10 pounds.

 

i meant a dollar and fifteen cents

 

not worth the time or the gas to get there IMO. it's time to start stealing alu scafolding and 20" rims
