Default Race gas shelf life

Did a search and couldn't find much info........ I've got some C16 left over in a 5 gallon drum from late summer, what is the average shelf life of an open container? Pretty sure that ideal storing conditions are cold and dark. Anyone have any input? Is it worth saving or should I have a big bonfire?
Thanks in advance
Craig

I keep mine in a cool dark room in a sealed, pressurized conatiner. Still its only good for about 4-5 months.

just try to buy what your going to use and the left over keep it for about 1 to 2 months, this is for people who keep them in jugs.

Our VP rep said good for 1 year in the 55gal drum with a good seal. Went 8.20@173 in our 68 Camaro with the small shot of the blue jug, running fuel that was 7 months old had no problems.

This is on a pre opened 55-gallon drum of VP C16.
The biggest thing that can happen is, if the seal is not good you will lose your Light Fractions do to vaporization. This can affect the Distillation Curve of the fuel properties. You can also check your specific gravity with an accurate scale and measuring container. (VP C16 .730 S/G)

If your still worried keep the fuel and us it to flow the fuel side of your nitrous system after checking the S/G.

are ther any devices that the "general public" would be able to purchase to check the "octane content" or whatever ya want to call it....to see if the fuel is still "worthy" ..... ???

does the octane lower? what exactly happens to it while its in storage?

also...does anyone know about storing methanol/alcohol???

Steel drum with a very very very very tight seal on it not holes or vents in the drum at all. and it has to be water tight no water can get in, and try not to change its environment to much
