Default How to install new speaker wire into the doors of a 93 Civic Coupe?

i'm currently trying to install new speaker wire for my new components.

what would be the easiest way as far as running the wire through the door back into the car?
I've been told that the rubber grommet thing that carries the stock wires has a molex type connector on each end, so i'm kinda stuck.

what have you guys done to accomplish this?
thanks

depending on how many wires you are ruung you can sometimes get it through the molex plug if the wire guage is small enough.. its a pain in the *** but it can be done if not make a new grommet and run wires along the one thats there..

like he said if the guage of the wire are small enough it can be done. Use a coat hanger

according to a friend of mine that installed my alarm, he used the only open parts on the molex connectors for some sensors.

hmmm.

thanks for the quick replies!

It might be easier to have a friend help remove the door and drill new holes just below the existing harness both in the door and the car. I did that on my 96 civic for 16 gauge wire. Just make sure you use a wire cover and weather proof everything. Works great...no leaks and full 16 guage wire to all speakers.

here is an idea: tape your new speaker wires to the stock wires and pull it back through the door into the interoir, you already have room in the gromet for speaker wires right,so when you pull the new ones through they will replace the stockers. A little dishsoap applied to the jacket of the wire will help slide it through and it will not damage the wire and you can wipe it off with a towel/rag when you are done.

i would do that, but i kinda wanna keep the stockers in there when i sell the car (don't know when that will be but some day). I wanna keep them incase the person with the car next doesn't want an amp.

The problem with that is (I believe it is true for his year too) the wires don't just run through a hole in the car and through the door. The wires are coming out the the door plug into a molex connector.

So the only way run run new wires where there won't be any kinks or possible severs is to drill new holes in the car and the door.

Running new wire should lower the value of the car if it is done professionally (or looks professional) and running a little larger wire for stock componants won't hurt...and may even help...why they have to use 18-20 guage wire is beyond me.
