Default Nitrous Car Sponshorship

I was looking at all the cars in the circuit and wondered why isn't there ann all nitrous cars sponshored out there. What kinda things would it take to make some like that happen. Is it because a Nitrous cars so hard to get full power and not consistant or what. What would be some of the things to look for in order to get some like that in affect. How much does the car have to weigh and what things can you cut from the inside and still be legal NHRA?

NHRA is 2400pds with one power adder and 2500 with 2 power adders i believe.

Im telling you bro after many events attended I've never seen a car sponshored by anyone thats all Nitrous but Pasley in the truck which they were running Lex V8's at the time so they don't count as far as a Honda goes.

oh , i though it was all nitrous.
As far as Paisley he was always running both from what i know.
i just dont see it being worth it to run all nitrous and expect to compete with some of these cars out there, too much money in fill ups, plsu youll be running some prety sick HPO shots of nitrous to keep up

PERSONAL PREFERENCE. In time there will be classes for nitrous racecars. Turbo is not for everyone.

Personal, on the street I love how N2o hits as apposed to turbo or sc. For the track, on a FWD, N2o is too harsh on drive line components. Just my experience.

A nitrous car makes a man a better driver for sure. Theres more to holdng the gas down take some trick peddling to get what you want out the car. Theres to much **** to go wrong with a turbo car in my opinion. To much computer ****. I wanna be the first to run a 300 shot on a civic some day in my future and blast down the track just as fast as the turbo cars. I have the patience and **** for it i think. Just no help with funding! My theory is that if a turbo car can do 500 some and then squeeze. Then there is a way to run nitrous thru that thing and not have it blow up all the time. Like now im running 120 thru my motor all the time nothing has went wrong but head gaskets when the ignitor went out. I think my next step is wheelie bars some form of LSD and 150 shot and start going up every 2 months until i atleast get to 200. Any thoughts or ideas from you guys is good for me. Oh and im thinking the progressize schintz system is a good idea.

KG (Kurt Gordon) used to have an all NOS car back in the day (2 years ago or so). I think he went 10.80's or so with that set-up but switched to turbo to go faster.

As for the person who said Paisley was all NOS last year... You are absolutely right.
The motor program (Toyota) insisted he run All-Motor and NOS to test the capability of the motors. When someone is giving you built motors for free you kinda have to follow their rules. But speaking with Craig (Paisley) he felt that a turbo motor would have made him the first to go 200mph, but his hands were tied.

I'm running 150 right now, I also wanna jet it up higher but I think maybe I should sleeve the block first? What do you guys think needs to be to a motor to handle alot of nitrous?

i dont se ehow it would be for low budget though? nitrous fill ups on high shots like that is sick . refills after 2 runs. not cheap by any means.

I hear where your coming from. Its something thats been on my mind for some time now. I will be helping a friend of mine with his K motor Civic race car and we will be running a D/P two stage system. This will be a flowed system that will be running a lean 6:1 to 6.8:1 nitrous to fuel ratios.
The engine is able to handle lots of HP the biggest problem will be keeping all the fuel in suspension. This is where the boosted N20 cars have a advantage. High pressure and heat help out the fuel suspension problem. There is a ram air setup on our car that will make alittle boost (1/2 to 1 lb.)this will help when the second stage comes in on the top end. Were going to throw as much N20 as we can at it.
Will keep ya posted.

I've wanted to do a big shot ina GSR for along time...3 Stages...350Shot.

The problem is getting that much nitrous into the motor and getting enough fuel in.

It's easier with V8s...

Exactly you can have a top fuel four cylinder built engine that can handle a ton of HP. But trying to get a huge shot of nitrous and fuel in and lighting it off that?s the tough part.

As much as I love to use nitrous, using a lot in a honda motor is tuff. The biggest problem is that nitrous cars in general don't have a lot of top end. Even in the V-8
world the best nitrous cars fall short in mph and et against supercharged cars. In a FWD car this becomes even more important because we cant get enuff traction out of the hole to get great 1/8 mile et's. When using 2 stage systems you need to bring in both kits as soon as possible without a clutch designed to slip out of the gate you will blow the tires of the car. There is no gain in bringing the second kit in halfway down the track because as soon as the first kit comes on the bottle pressure starts to drop. Dropping bottle pressure = losing HP. I am still on the fence about running turbo or sticking with nitrous because I've had a great time with it.

What we are going to do is run the first stage on the cars engine fuel system and a 10lb. bottle. (75 to a 100shot)
The second stage will run on a front mount fuel cell with a BG280 electric pump dead-head low pressure system and its own 10lb bottle.(100 to a 200shot)
Now you have a system that won't change the other when activated.
The car runs 11.59 on the motor so maybe another 300HP will get us in the 9's

With the testing I have done, the closer a nitrous engine approaches a 50-50 ratio of motor power to nitrous power, the more detonation prone the mixture in the cylinder gets. I have observed this in v8 drag engines as well as sport compact stuff. The only reason that I am able to run upwards of 250 hp worth of nitrous is that my engine on boost only is making around 340 hp. This "nitrous power to boost power" ratio is still a conservative 42%. This comes down to the root issue with why there are no 9 sec. nitrous only cars. A really well built all-motor engine that would be able to handle the violent burn characteristics of nitrous would make around 300 crank hp. I feel you could potentially make 600 crank hp with nitrous added, but it will be an engine that will require a tremendous amount of maintanence. Due to the violent burn that a large nitrous percentage creates, piston skirts and pins take a real beating. We are talking about a mini Pro-Mod engine here. Darrell *** originally ran his Neon with a carbed/nitrous only combination and I think he ended up running some low 10's with it.....but if I remember correctly, he was having to put pistons in it every 5 passes or so (forgive me if I am wrong, this is just what I recall him telling me a few years ago). The only class you could run a nitrous motor in is a class that turbos are also allowed in....and they can use nitrous as well. It would be very hard to compete and win against those odds.

Later,

ZEX Man

Great input! This is something that we are aware of. Even if we were to run a high 9. Its not even close to be competitve. All motor is now running high9's.
On our Camaro NMCA car 565Musi BBC. People are impressed with it running a 450 shot. But what impresses me is a guy running a 200shot on a engine thats just a little over 100CI.(Volume to Nitrous ratio)
There is a wall with nitrous, even with Pro Mod engines that are close to the 700CI mark. They're working on better systems and fuels to keep the nitrous and fuel mix evenly. But its the tough part for now.

I figured it out the only way you can get that kinda power from a Honda engine is the be atleast a 2.0 or bigger to hold that much nitrous in the cylinder. The head has to beable to flow a large amount of nitrous and the hi tech style header works great for the application. You would need a sponshorship with pistons cause they have a tendacy to shrink and make noise. Thats with the JE pistons I suppose cause mine shrink after a few big runs and make a little noise. The right idea is to make the clutch slip some so steel braided lines will be need with the right size and thickness of fluids will allow the clutch to engage at a slower rate allowing it to slip and not shock the tires as hard. Which in turn pulls the car forward more without as much wheel spin( Thank Bisi for that info). An itb set up will for sure make more power but if you can't afford that the JG intake manifold bored to 70mm with the str Throttle body. I use the MSD digital 6 to retard my timing once the nitrous is engaged. I think they should make a class for this cause it takes some serious tuners to pull a fast nitrous car off. It would be great to see how all the wrenchers got the power to get where they are at. There is a thousand ways to make power and I would love to see how everyone else do it.

You will have a very hard time trying two tune to different fuel psi and two different bottle psi. I did that two years ago and every pro mod guy I know said that it was wrong. I now use one big pump for the nitrous and a regulator for each system. This set up allows me to flow each system to what ever psi I want. All you need to do is use one bottle and tune the second stage for the pressure drop that happens when the bottle is flowing nitrous.
