Default NASA CCR rules = SCCA GCR rules???

curious if they are similar. im reading the CCR rules about roll cages because im taking the car to the builder in couple days. i cant find the GCRs anywhere. curious if i just print out section 15.6 (roll cage section) it should be good to go.

http://www.nasaproracing.com/i...R.pdf

this is the "typical roll cage"

Well, as pictured the design of that cage would be legal per GCR rules. However, you can't tell from that diagram what tubing diameter and thickness you plan to use and there is a difference between the NASA and SCCA requirements. Also, there are things that you can add to that cage that are GCR legal that are not pictured above. I would try to track down a GCR before you have a custom cage build to save you any headache. The overall design requirements are very similar, but it's the details that will get you.

Is your cage builder familiar with SCCA or NASA rules? Or is he a roundy-round guy or ...?

i was planning on 1.5" X .120" DOM tubing. (that is what CCR said).. buy yah, i guess i need to get a hold of the GCR, or at least get a copy for the builder. im sure he knows a little about NASA/SCCA, but i dont want to caust any confusion.

ill try to track down a GCR ASAP

thanx for the advice BTW.
