Default turbo h23 yes or no?

Iv bean running around a few ideas in my head and I have got the idea of getting a h23 and turboing it sense I could get a h23 for half the price that a h22 plus the h23 would be able to hold more boost in theory.

dose this seam like a good idea or am i just clueless and talking out my ***

iv got a f22a6 automatic and im getting to the point where the mods i wont just are starting to cost to much and this idea seams to salve a lot of my problems

Depending on your money situation it wouldn't be a bad idea. However couldn't you go with the H22 and then buy low compression pistons to take car of any compression ratio problems?

well iv found h23 for a lot cheaper price plus i would rather have the h23 tranny with its longer gears and im still getting 2.3 over 2.2 but i have heard something about h23 being unreliable so that's why im asking around

The thing about h23s is they spin their main bearings. Search it up and youll find a good number of people with spun bearings in their h23s. IMO the f22 is more reliable than an h23. An h22 would be a great motor to work on too and would be worth it of youre doing an auto to manual conversion. Search up info on those two motors so you can have more input to your decision.

...why? And don't say because it'll "hold boost better".

the difference in gearing bn the h23 and h22 is almost negligable, 1st-3rd are nearly identical, 1st is the same on all f/h trannies. and as far as not leeping the f22... i would build an f series and convert to 5sp. its really not all that hard, just time consuming.

if your going to swap motors i think your better off going with an H22. the slightly lower compression doesn't mean much and your 30-40hp down from the start.
