Default Flywheel, clutch and JDM Final drive.

I'm getting what I consider avery good deal on Toda flywheel, Toda clutch and Jdm ITR Final Drive. I was wondering if anybody here had any experiences with this setup, or at least the Toda clutch. I haven't heard good or bad things. I was wondering what you all thought.

Thanks

The Toda clutch/flywheel are probably the best out there. You can't get much better than what your getting ... unless you want to spend A LOT more money. You will love that setup.

Try SPOON/Excedy's clutch and flywheel combo instead. They work better on my friends' ride. http://www.spoon-sports.com/

I definately like the feel of the Toda clutch better than the Spoon although you can't go wrong with either.

Could you elaborate as to what better is? Has your friend had both to compare?

I run the ACT package, 6 puck with extreme PP, and a lightenend and balanced stock flywheel.

If you have a strong left leg, you will love it.

The TODA flywheel has a greater propensity to stall the engine after revving to high Rpm's then letting off the gas and putting the car in neutral. The ECU can't catch the falling revs fast enough since the flywheel is so light. The flywheel is excellent in a track environment since the revs build so fast. Just remember the faster the revs rise, the faster they're going to fall!

I used to have the TODA flywheel in my car but now I'm just using the Spoon unit instead. I don't have to heel toe every instance while driving around on the street worrying about catching the falling revs.

The Spoon flywheel is a good alternative if you drive your car daily. Only thing to watch out for is the "starter teeth grinding" problem. But that's another issue all together!

Whats a good clutch/pressure plate combo for the spoon flywheel? Also I've never done a clutch job on an integra before, but i've done them on domestics and RX7's. Do I need the clutch alignment tool? Or can I just working in there and hope it aligns. If I do need tthe alignment tool, anybody know where and how much? Thanks.

I've tried both the Mugen and Spoon clutch/pressure plate combos. The Mugen seems to bite a little harder but the Spoon has a more linear engagement. If you feel really adventurous, you can even try their 3 puck clutch combos.

You will need an alignment tool for the installation. Some kits provide the little plastic bugger. Most shops have them as part of their toolbox inventory from all the other clutch installation jobs they've done in the past.

Yep,

You heard correctly! Spoon flywheel does, or at the very least, did have a starter teeth grinding problem. My first Spoon flywheel had nearly 90% of it's teeth show signs of wear. My current Spoon flywheel hasn't even ground once. Kinda wierd if you ask me. Maybe Spoon fixed the problem with it's newer batches.

edit: crap i think i misstook wat u say, u mean not ground once as in it has not grinded on your new flywheel?

"ok my only question i have to ask u is if u OBVIOUSLY know that it has starter teeth grind, then why u buy another one???"

Actually,

My friend was trading in his 98 ITR with the Spoon Flywheel and JDM final drive. I asked if I could just trade transmissions with him since his tranny and flywheel were newer and did not have the starter teeth problem. Also, if it wasn't like the dealer was going to give him any more money for the parts. So we put my 97 tranny into the 98 ITR just before he traded it in (minus the grounded Spoon flywheel).

Basically, I ended up with a newer tranny, healthy Spoon Flywheel, and JDM final drive for free. I wouldn't have the second Spoon flywheel if it wasn't for him. I would have simply put the TODA back on if need be. He benefited also by selling the grounded up Spoon flywheel to someone who wanted it "as is".

Out of 6 or 7 guys locally running the 6.75lb. Comptech flywheel, not one has EVER complained of a grinding starter. Inspection of the teeth on the flywheel looks like a 100% clone of the stock honda flywheel.

Im using TODA flywheel, and Exedy Clutch. I have had the JUN flywheel, and the I like the TODA much better. I have not noticed any starter teeth problems, as I could "hear" it with the JUN, but never saw any damage to the starter. The setup I am running has seen many track days as well as driven daily. As said above you cant go wrong with any of the mentioned setups : Spoon/Exedy Toda/Toda Toda/Exedy . The Exedy clutch can he had for about $330-350 as for the flywheel Toda is the most of the 3 mentioned above, but in my eyes well worth it. I have never had or driven a car with the spoon, so I wouldn't know how it compares. Between TODA and JUN I would buy TODA again.

Between the 2 Toda Clutches.....Full Face and 3 puck, which one did any of you guys run?.... and is Toda's 3 puck too much for a street driven car?

My Spoon flywheel doing just fine, no grinding at all and the Spoon clutch works great with the JDM tranns. You'll love the 4.78 and the fast rev's...

I also would like to know what is the longevity of the toda clutches compared to stock, as my car is daily driven, and God do you have any in stock along w/ a toda flywheel.

2k1TypeR0610 can you get a good deal for me too on the toda combo
