On an AEM you are paying for the name and the filter. Those Ebay filters are trash most of the time. Just get a K&N and be done with it. Another option is to run a short ram pipe to a stock airbox with a K&N in it if you are worried about hydrolock. I had an AEM ITR CAI back in the day because it was a 3 incher though.
ya its aem is basically for the name etc. but in cali, aem would be a good idea since the C.A.R.B. sticker. my friend made some replica rs akimoto carb stamps and it got him out of some trouble

Just look around. I got my ITR AEM CAI for like 100 bucks shipped to my door from another HT member. Just look through the classifieds. There's somebody who decides to go FI and has to get rid of this stuff daily. If you can find a 3 inch Ebay intake go for it rather than the AEM, or if the price difference isnt worth it to you the Ebay intake would be better than stock.

I own that exact intake. Basically the pipe and silicone retainers are good. The filter is junk. It is dyed red to look like it is perfectly oiled. Even after thoroughly cleaning it, and applying K&N filter oil I still have a problem with it. The K&N oil never dries to a tack, it stays thin and collects at the lowest point in the filter.

I was gonna get an intake off ebay and just use the tube and all from it and just buy another nice filter (K&N, HKS). but then when i added up the cost of buying and shipping one from ebay and then buying and shipping a nice filter ,it would be as much as just springin for the whole sha-bang. So i looked, and just ordered my DC sports short ram for 62 smakers from the store... pretty good deal if yah ask me, and Ive also heard their filters are

Why do people talk about ebay products like ebay is a brand? If you buy an cheap intake on ebay then you are taking a risk. It might fit, it might not. Although I'm sure that you could "massage" it to fit properly. Eitherway, if the intake is cheap, then the filter is probably cheap as well. You will most likely need to replace it with a quality filter like a k&n.
So, use your head and make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into when purchasing items on ebay and you will be fine.

DC Sports uses K&N filters right?
I got J's racing style tubing from an ebay seller tsai for about $13.99. He sells the tubing for cheap, and it is cheap. Mine was painted blue, and the paint is all chipped up, but i plan on stripping it because it's black underneath. I'll slap a K&N filter on it and install it someday.

yah from my tiny bit of knowledge of listening to other people they are K&N but someone correct me if Im wrong on that one... I was gonna take my chances on ebay but this was in the same price range so I just went for name brand.

You need to buy a cone filter from K&N if you are going to try and stick it on the end of that pipe. Not the filter designed for your car ( a boxlike filter that goes in your stock airbox)
