Default JDM R vtec solenoid same as USDM?? (almost)

well, my CEL 21 is on, the screen is clean, oil is up to level, and it even clicks when i apply 12V, but the valve doesn't move when i press on it.

a friend of mine has a JDM vtec solenoid, but it has no vtec pressure sensor on it (you need to tap it for the sensor).. i am curious if anything bad will happen if i drive the car. right now, i have no vtec at all (or is it better to drive it with the vtec disabled?). so will not having a vtec pressure switch hooked up throw any codes?? im trying to get my cage put in this week sometime, so i don't have much time to look for a USDM vtec solenoid. (unless someone has one cheap and read to ship)

thanks

on a USDM ecu? I expect it will throw a code.. On a JDM ecu, it wouldn't be a problem though..

I'd say just drive it without vtec to get the cage in, then worry about it later..

OT - Who's doing your cage?

thanks for the quick response.

Primetime Racecars in g-boro is doing it (hopefully this week, i forgot to call friday ).

i havnt heard of anything going wrong by driving with vtec disabled. only thing is the CEL is on, but i havnt noticed limp mode or anything.

if you use apex vafc, you will not need the oil preasure switch. its eliminated.
but yes on a u.s. ecu you will have chk eng. light, but will not hurt a thing.
