A/C in the 02 EP3?
I have not done it, nor do I know anyone who has even thought of this. You really want to do this. Because if you are not seriously going to race your car, it is a worthless moddification IMO. To much trouble for just some weight reduction. I would just try to lose body weight. Not trying to knock, just a better way.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to know if it made a big difference. I'm not sure yet if I want to since I do live in Texas and the wheather sucks over here during the summer. But, ill keep that in mind though.
You got a point there Team, but I wanna make my car as light as possible. I've already done the entire back end of the car and the carpet inside with the cushy foam underneath the carpet. Hopefully i can find another way to make my EP3 lighter. Any suggestions anyone?
Im in need of help.

Our seats (non-airbag) are about 35lbs each... not really heavy, but there are lighter seats available, and you might even make a profit if you sell the stocks for the right price.
Assuming you arent worried about auto-x classifications:
There is also the CF sunroof insert that some guy was talking about making, but they can be custom-made for less money with thick lexan. You'll have to shop around, but basically you can pull the glass, get the Lexan in the same thickness, then have a shop (most likely a good cusstom car audio shop) use heat to drape-form the lexan to the shape of the glass... then reinstall (without the motor if you wanna save more weight).
You can delete the rear wiper, motor, washer (see tutorial on K-series.com)
You can switch to a lighter battery (Hawker Genesis)
I/H/E will all save some weight, and custom parts in titanium ($$) will go even lighter.
There's a bunch of lightened transmission parts, but dont go too light with all those, or you might mess up the car's ability to stay in the high rpm range.
There are brake upgrades (see docofmind at ephatch.com) that weigh less than the stock setup and offer improved performance to boot.
Mugen has just released some front lower control arms for our cars too. ( http://www.kingmotorsports.com...=1665 )
That's all I can think of for now, but there is bound to be more.

How light your car becomes = how much money you are willing to throw into it.
Forged wheels, Spoon calipers, aluminum shocks/struts, seats, etc. will all subtract more weight after you have done all of the 'free' weight reductions, like interior, a/c, etc.
I must admit that I'd like to see how light an EP3 could get and still remain somewhat daily-driver friendly, but I don't have that kind of money/desire for such a project.
If you do take off the a/c, make sure you get all of the stuff under the dash, like the condensor. That's about 7 lbs or so.

best bet is to sell it....
the EP/DC5 platform will NEVER be what the older cars were......light.
chassis are stiff has hell...YEAH!!
but are now heavy as *****....BOO
a street legal EG could swing 1950ish and a rex could reach 1450ish....
an EP will never reach sub 24's, and stay "user friendly"

thanks guys for all the info. so far from what ive done is, taken out the back seats, rear speakers, carpet, sound something under the carpet, spare tire, jack, some other metal stuff from the back that wasnt needed, rear hatch was replaced with cf hatch, inside back side panels were taken out, both door panels and speakers taken out and thats it for now. so pretty much only thing inside the car is the front seats and steering wheel and the radio and dash. ive heard about the cf sunroof. im thinking about getting that pretty soon.
another question:
does anyone know the diameter of the stock intake pipe on the 02 EP3? and what would be the best intake system for my car and does anybody know any brands that have the cf exhaust system? thanks.
