confusion about SFWD rule
in teh NHRA rulebook in section 2 page 26 rule #6 pertaining interior, it says all interior must remain intact. I understand that, but what do they consider all interior pieces?
I was wondering about the carpeting where the rear speakers sit in teh back of a civic coupe or sedan. Can I remove that and the speakers? pretty much my car is bare from the seats back. Is that considered legal or illegal?

That will pass tech inspection. Just as long as you have the two front seats, dash, door panels and front carpet.

What he means is No sitting on a Milk Crate.

The way I read it you can only remove the rear seat, and the area under
the rear seat must be carpeted. You must keep the side panels in the back
as well as the stock carpet.
Sure the speakers can go...

I wouldn't worry about tech as much as the people you race with. Imagine getting
to the finals and haveing the other guy make it an issue, not worth it for a few
extra pounds.

Does anybody know for sure if you have to run the rear plastic side panels?? I sure hope not. What about the front seats, do they have to be the same seat??
the rules say you must have everything in tact other than the back seats, yes they say the front seats must be matching .
Yes they will prob let you race without them matching and without panels, but if you win , you take the chance for protest or them not paying you for the day ,not worth it so i oput my car back together.

Why even take those panesl out? You arent saving any noticable weight and the car looks like garbage....The reason they want all the panels and so forth intact is so the car looks more like a street car and not a race car....Afterall it is a street class...
They dont care what kind of seats you have, as long as they are seats...

the rules do state matching front seats, but im sure they will only enforce that if anyone else in the class gets pissed becuase they got beat, but they are all pretty close so , i dont see it a prob.
Actually, i think in nhra etown in october, they told this DSM guy Rob McKellar he couldnt run because he didnt have matching seats. He drove from like 5 states away too, and they wouldnt let him run. Kinda beat if you ask me
I think it kinda sucks too, becuase i got a Sparco racing seat i spend a fortune on and planned on running gutted, i now have a civic seat in the pass seat until i get money for another seat, but i think as long as it has 2 front seats, it should be fine .
Yea my girl got me 2 sparco sprint seats for christmas and I only wanted one. I was gonna sell but now Im just gonna run both of em. But you do have to run the panels in the car. Damn lucky I still got mine and didnt sell em. haha
Heres a pic of the passenger seat installed. Custom install by me. I used the stock rails and sliders.

I remember that. I was going to post about that, but you beat me to it.
Looks like I will atleast keep the rear panels even though they are all faded.

**** em , if they bitch and wont let me tech , ill run brackets and have a better chance in winning anyway and get paid more that SFWD. then ill use that moeny to buy another Sparco . IM not gonna stress it that much, I just wanna race.
Speaking of rules, here's one for ya. I called NHRA and asked about my fiberglass
trunk lid. The question was can I pin it on or does it need to be on a stock type
hinge. They told me that pinning was fine. Am I gonna have a problem anywere
else with this?
