how do you convince your parents.
how do you convince your parents to let you put a greddy turbo on your car.... my parenets only fit is the warrenty deally.... my mom insisted on gettin an extended warrenty, and she says i cant drop it untill the car is fully payed off. but i have moeny for a turbo (greddy) and i wanna put it on my car ... i told her that the warrrenty wont be void unless they can PROVE that the turbo was the cause of the malfuncion, but shes **** and wants it in writing, then she thows" talk to your father" at me, and he loaths the very thought of modifying a "perfectly fine new car". when i lowered the car, i couldnt tell him, and he eventuall asked me why i lowered it, i told him to make it handle and look better, all he had to say is, "it had a perfectly fine, working pair of springs from the factorY" he cant understand why anyone would modify their car. Trying to explain to him why i am adding a turbocharger would make him flip, so.. im gonna just not tell him... so does anyone have any convincing that i could do to make my mother see that the greddy kit is perfectly safe for my engine, and that unless i downshift into 1st gear when im goin 80 on the highway myengine will be fine? anyone boosting have any problems yet regarding the warrenty?
and imput would be fine, if i was just one year older( 18 ) and had away better job, i would have the car payed off, and a turbo on there in no time, but since im just a small little "child" my parents dont think that i own the car, even tho i have payed every cent for it up to date, they still think that they own the car or something... parents suck...
joHn
ps sorry for the long off topic rant, but it just came out.

yeah, but i figured they would notice the vrrrooooommm ppshhhhh.... and the boost gauges, and turbo timers in the cabin... also the fact that its alot faster.... they never look under the hood, but sometimes i have to give rides..
if it's your car, your money, and you are not relying on your parents for any support... i would say do what you want. if none of the above are true, take it like a man and listen to them.
if it is their car, i can see how they are protecting their investment and trying to limit any future expenses. if you are living with them and not paying your own way, offer to help them out before spending all that money on car parts. sounds reasonable to me...

I personally would'nt do it behind their back. 13Gs is alot for a turbo kit, at least let them know to cover yourself because your still under their roof.
If they come back to you about it, at least you can bring up the fact that they ok'd it in the first place.

How about using that money towards paying off the car? Paying off sooner = less money paid in interest = more money for whatever you want in the future.

Yeah right...lol....
Would you buy a used civic SI driven by (read he most likely drives the crap out of it) and he slaps a turbo kit on it and decides to run a little to much boost??? Is there a thread on yutes to parents counseling? Maybe we need one

If you're the one paying the loan, then you should do what you want. My parents are exactly the way, they have to comment about everything I add to my car. But that didn't stop me. Not to disrespect them, then they should give me my space.
On the other hand, I don't think you should rely too much on the warranty if you do put in a turbo. You would it's logic not having to pay for a repair non-related to your turbo, but it's really up to the dealership people to decide.

Exactly. No need to rush into anything. GReddy turbo kit isn't going anywhere. In fact, the longer you wait, better products will be available..

If he wants the kit really bad. I'm pretty sure his parents might say ok for investment.
At the same time, he could say it'll be a learning experience to enhance his car.
Me personally, I would'nt FI my car. I prefer N/A

I would pay off your car with that money, beats paying a note every month. Then I would save up for a turbo. your would be pissed if you blew you engine and it wasn't payed off yet.

Just buy the turbo kit. and DONT TELL them

just wait it out...dont lie to them thats just disrespectful, if you didnt get the extended warrenty then just wait till the manufactuar one is done and over with, then boost the **** out of it if you want...but my advise is dont lie to your parents and wait the kit will be cheaper later
