The LS tranny is more similar to an EX transmission on a D series ratio wise. The GSR is a bit shorter.

the gsr has shorter gear ratios, the ls are longer. and if im right the ls tranny tops out at around 145 and the gsr at aorund 135(give or take a little)

for a b16, you dont want either. the gears are too long and spaced for the torqueless wonder. you need a b16 tranny or type r. if you have to go with one of the two though, you need a gsr tranny.

a ls tranny on a b16 will be about as quick as a d16z6.

the B16 and GSR both use 4.4 FD's with the exeption of a longer 3rd gear? and the LS is something around a 4.2 FD..

You'll need to give us the tire size, and preferably some speeds and RPMs in other gears . . .

go check again, the b16 has a shorter 2nd,3rd, 4th, and 5th compared to a gsr tranny. yes they have the same final drive of 4.40 but the final drive determines the top speed for each gear. the gear ratio determines how far the rpm's drop between shifts.

go put a gsr tranny on a b16 and then you tell me if they are the same with the exception of a longer 3rd

oh and for the guy who posted this thread, what is your rpm when cruising in 5th at 80mph. ill be able to tell you from that.

You will have to do a top speed in another gear like 3rd cause ls and gsr trannies have the same first gear.

You have an LS tranny.

With the GSR tranny, your revs would be around 3900 or so in 5th at 80mph.

GSR tranny is shorter and has MUCH better 3rd-5th gears...

however...with a GSR you will sit at 3,000 RPM at 60mph
