axle help please! b16 swap into 88 hf. 90-93 integra axles but with or without abs???
ok so i was trying to put on my new driver side axle today but it wouldn't fit into the hub. the outer spline was just a tad too big for the hub. when i bought the axle they asked me was this for an integra with or without abs and i didn't know which one to choose so i picked without. is this the reason why my axle wouldn't fit? or does it matter? what is the difference between an integra axle with or without abs anyways? ok well thanks for the help.
I second that information, you need DX/Si 26 spline hubs. Not from a base model 4speed hatchback either they got hf 23 spline hubs as well. If you buy the knuckle complete as an assembly then you get the added benefit of better rotors/caliper setup. You can in a pinch mount hf/base model calipers and rotors to the DX/Si hubs with the hf/base caliper bracket. They bolt right up but I would highly recommend upgrading the brakes as well. Get a larger Master Cylinder and brake booster while your at it. If you can find some rare EX hubs go for them, even bigger.

Kind of...... but you have to take the ABS rings off!. Rob

And if you get the DX hubs, make sure to remove the dust covers on the inside of the hubs or you will get a bad, bad sounding noise, if they even go in all of the way...
oh sorry maybe i should of been more clear...the swap was already done on my car and i'm replacing the left axle cause of a torn inner cv boot and bad joint. i could put the inner spline in the intermediate shaft no prob but when it came time to put in the axle to the hub no luck at all. i ended up messing up the threads on the spline a little cause i was hammering on the hub to try to pound it in and i guess it wasn't made to go in! i compared the two axles they seem identical except for the part that goes into the hub.....the one i just bought seems a hair bigger. hmmm...well i'm going to return it today and just get one from a different store...could be this cheap *** crapa(napa) auto parts store because i've bought stuff from here before(axle seals) and they weren't the correct ones.

Could be the wrong CV joint end on the shaft when they rebuilt it. Who knows. I ran into the same problem with drivers side axle seal on my 90 Civic with parts from Honda. Since not all 90-91 Civics received the 35mm bearing diffs-cases I was one of the lucky ones that got the leftovers from the 88-89s production run. I ended up having to get an 89 Drivers side seal. Honda never identified the problem in their parts system.
