Default Need Some Help from my H-T brothers...

well im sorry to say my dad passed away on 12/18/03 .He was very sick and died in the hospital right in front of me and my sibling's..im only 24 and im by myself(my mom died when i was four).I lived with my dad and now i have to take care of our apartment and pay the rent-$1200 a month.

my dad was a fellow enthusiast and ford mechanic for 20 some odd years.he left me behind his 65 Mustang, wich i plan on restoring in a couple years...and i still have my cars.I sold my 88 four door last week and was contemplating selling my CRX Si to pay rent.....but i cant seem to bring myself to do it ,me and my dad did the swap on it and we both put in alot of wrench time on it...He even drove it and commented it was pretty quick for a 4 cyl.

So this is the part where i need your help guys....

i have a 87 civic hatch just sittin in my backyard with a blown engine.I want to fix it and sell it,it has a pretty clean body.So do you guys think i should get anothe carbed DX engine,or swap in a d16a1?
If i swapped in the d16a1 what carbs can i use -the old ones off the DX?...also what tranny would i use ,d16a1 i suppose?

and lastly i got the car for free and it has a clean title do you think it would be worth it to swap in a d16a1 and make a profit by selling it?And lastly how much do you think i would be able to sel it for?....The car has 130k on it..

Thanks in advance guys

Damn i miss the old man,he was my best friend ,A HELL of a mechanic, and funny as ****......RIP Dad.

Sorry to hear you loss.
I suggest you dont sell your fav car and I dont think your dad would want you to neither.
Good luck with whatever you do.

well i found out i can also put the 1.5 85-87 si head on the DX.. but i would have to have it shaved.040 ...is that expensive?will any machine shop do it?...and do you think it would be ok to reuse the carb from the DX on the si head?
