That is hilarious and totally accurate.
Hey Karl, you can cut and save that write-up for when you finally decide to sell your shelf... uhhhh... MG.
I remember 5 years ago when a buddy of mine bought a shitbucket '74 Jensen Healey Roadster for $1200. All I heard about was how light it was, its wonderful Lotus twin cam powerplant, the multiple SCCA Production National championships Healeys had won, and how the "bugs" had been worked out by '74.
Well... 5 years and about $20K later:
-The car has actually been driven under its own power an accumulated 8 months of those 5 years (keep in mind that this isn't a CONTINUAL 8 months, heh, no way there buddy).
-There is currently no motor or transmission in it, but it still somehow manages to leave an oil spot wherever it sits. We've decided that 30 years of fluid leaks have simply permeated the sheet metal.
-In spite of 30 years of oil permeating the sheet metal, it still manages to rust. Nobody is allowed to touch it without first signing a waiver stating that they have had a tetanus shot recently.
-Electrics have been completely replaced. Still don't work very well.
-It is estimated that approximately 12 tubes of permatex have been used over the course of 5 years in an attempt to stop oil leaks. It still leaks.
-In a rare track appearance at Roebling Road the car DID actually put down so much power that it reached about 130mph down the front straight. It might have made 140 but it started shaking and vibrating so badly that the driver almost unlatched his harness and jumped out.
Yeah, but otherwise its a great car.
At least he has $20K in a car he might be able to sell for $3K.

...but if you had another Interceptor, it'd make a nice parts car. You know that the true British car nut never has just one of any car. Takes at least two or three to keep one running.

There *is* something to that whole oil keeping things from rusting theory. For example, over 36 years a 427 blows enough oil through the engine that the entire exhaust system is still in tact! That's a long time for some pretty thin metal pipes!

P.S. Thanks for posting that ad, it was hysterical

I liked the ad, it shows that the guy understands what he has from all points of view and it will still be worth something to someone out there (see it had 16 bids when I looked - Viva Ebay!).

Scott, thanks for reminding me about the Jensen Healy. I remmeber the cars when they were new and one of the driver's from my family's Formula Ford racing team was a successful Jensen dealer.
I have seen some JHs on sale pretty cheap on Ebay and Autotrader.com. I always thought that if I were ever to want a British roadster, the JH was one of the best looking, better polished, better performaning models. Thanks for reminding me that I don't ever really want to own a British roadster!

Perhaps the buyer is looking for a specific component like a piece of glass or something that's still in decent shape which would make the whole care worthwhile.

Some people will restore things that we would just junk. In Germany and in Italy, cars such as this will be worth good money, once totally rebuilt.
FWIW, I recall Donald Healey saying that the Jensen-Healey was the only car bearing his name that he was ashamed of...
BTW, the Jensen Interceptor and Jensen-Healey have nothing in common, except the coachworks company.

The Jensen-Healey is a much smaller POS than the Interceptor. I have known of some that handled pretty well, unlike the Interceptor.

it would be hard to have anything less than a 007 full face smirk everywhere you go however.
And maybe even con some girls into believing it's a rare 60's Brtitsh classic and only a taste of your Joe Millionaire status if all else fails.

Dammit that was funny! Much thanks for a good laugh that I badly needed.
Now I feel so much better about my rustbucket CRX that has had all four jacking tabs fold up flat against the floorpan when I tried to use them.
