ITR 0081 and myself almost totalled...
So I was driving home like any other day... 1am in the morning. Just hanging out with friends and what not.
I am stopped at a light on the normal route home. It's a super long light and of course, there is no one else at the light. Sitting at the light, I will usually get restless and want to just gun through the light once it turns green. The left turn lane is green, but mine (going straight) is not. My light turns green, the car is in gear and I am about to creep out and zoom across, but for some reason I decide not to.
Out of the corner of my left eye I see a car FLYING down the road at 70mph+-. I immediately stop creeping. He clearly has a red light, it wasn't even green a minute before he approached the light. The guy screams through half the intersection and then slams his brakes and skids through the rest of the intersection.
If I had taken off through the intersection like I always do, I would've easily been broad sided. My car and myself would've been pummeled and done for.
All these stories of ITR's going down... I could've been next. Be careful out on the road and be patient!

Similar incident happened to me last spring. Some stupid minivan ran a red light in downtown but luckily I noticed him NOT slowing down as he was approaching the intersection.
this situation has happened to me more than a few times in my life, me being the guy that would have been "pummeled" like you
funny thing is every time is like the first time, and its always a "wake-up" call to all that i love about being alive
glad you had good judgment and instinct yourself.

were you about 20 min or so from your house? statistics say that's when most crashes occur, so don't take it for granted guys even though you're almost home.
the same scenario took place with me. except i wasnt as lucky, the views of myself and the person who hit me were blinded by a long line of cars.
the only way i could have avoided it would have been to come to a complete stop on a green light. there are some pretty crazy drivers out there. but glad to see you and your R are okay.

dublin is pretty bad with red light runners as well
alot of dumbasses just roll through red lights like everyone else should stop for them.

when I'm first in line at the light, I usually count one full second before I go... two full seconds + head check if late at night. too many drunk/high fockers on the road past midnight. It's the worst on Fri/Sat nights.

Wow man, glad you're ok!!!! I usually stick to backstreets when going home that late, keeps me away from the drunk drivers. If I ride down the main street on my way home, I'll probably drive by at least 2-3 bars, each of which has either a motorcycle cop, or a squad car parked no more than a block away waiting for the idiots to hit the road. :middle finger: to all drunk drivers, and a
to the cops that are booking them.
