Should be 5700 but the stock tach is notoriously off so it could be the tach.

A VAFC2 is a good investment if you plan to get more modifications in the future.

The Gruppe M filter is not comparable to the Mugen air box. I would get the Mugen Air box over the filter any day.

there is a GRUPPE M carbon fibre CAI as well designed 4 the dc5 type r i just assumed there was one 4 the dc2 as well the dc5 one looked like a good design the cai extented the the top of the bonnet where the the wipers were and it then scoped out like the wrx's

The only Gruppe M air cleaner that I know of just connects to the stock ITR intake arm. This is for DC2. Everything else is probably different.

The VAFC does show you accurate RPMs so it acts as a tuning device as well as a simply monitoring device.

B18c7 VTEC kicks in at 5700rpm (looks like 5800-5900 on tacho), we got 190HP/141kw but a 4.7 final drive.

Go with mugen CAI, can be gotten for AU$950. I would suggest get a VAFC and get it tuned professionally over getting Mugen CAI. Or if you can afford both, get Mugen CAI then get it all tuned.

PowerFC is best ECU option in Aust as there are many tuners, 2nd hand they go for about $1100. Probably no need for VAFC then.

Definately, mine's about 5900 or 6K. My "old" '00 was slightly lower.
