rockwilda is right. you need the '04 front bumper to run the '04 front lip

 

Just curious but do you think you can make it fit?

Is it the same size? Will it wrap around the 00-03 bumper without a problem? Is it because the 04 just uses different stock mounting holes?

 

this is off the top of my head so don't flame.

the 00-03 goes "under" the bumper while the 04' lip mounts "onto" the bumper. not sure if you guys understand it, but if you look at pictures of the 2 you can sort of see this.

I understand how it mounts with the 00-03. I have an 00 and I know how it's mounted since I recently bought the lip. I haven't seen the 04 though.

I think I hear what you are saying. So does the 04 lip use existing holes? Or how does it login?

 

OT: How about the '04 headlights can these bolt right in? I know there is some modifcation to the HID ballasts, but do they only work with the '04 bumper?

 

There's a thread on S2ki about someone making them fit. They aren't a direct fit in from what I've read but they do fit with minor mods.

 

I know that AJ put the new headlights in there first Gen. S2000- but they also have the new bumper too. Just curious if they needed to do it...

i believe the mounting brackets are different, but it's only a minor mod like you said.

let me try to find a pic for you regarding the 04' lips, i have no clue if the mounting points are different or not. A local guy has an 04' but his OEM lip had not come in yet so it wasn't on.

if you look at the bumper, it mounts "onto" the bumper as opposed to the 00-03'. i think the sides of the lip would also go over the faux vents of the bumper and the grill area is a little wider on the 04's

Go with the 00-03 style and keep your stock bumper.

 

I agree, 00-03 front end looks better. But that's just my opinion.
