Default I hit a pedestrian on new years eve

I was driving yesterday night with my R and my girlfriend was in the car with me. Everything was going fine, and we were heading to go meet up some of my friends. I came upon an intersection with a one way stop sign. I stopped, looked left, right, and left again, and it was clear so i started going again. Then all of the sudden, this guy was riding a scooter and popped out right in front of me riding his scooter towards me. i saw him at the last second, slammed on the brakes, but i still hit him. My girlfriend didnt even see him. I was going no more than 3 mph when i hit him tho, he was probably going faster than me. He hit my driver side. I got out of the car and checked on him, and it was nothing too bad. He said his knee really hurts but he could still walk. I offered him to drive him home or the hospital but he didnt want me to. I stayed with him for about 10 minutes. So he just asked for my liscense plate number, and i gave it to him and left. I felt really bad after.

After a while of thinking, i was wondering why was he riding his scooter at night, wearing all black, in the middle of the road, towards oncoming traffic, with no reflector, no helmet, and no pads. Anyone could have hit him. He also said that this was the second time this happend to him this month and he just recovered from his previous accident.

Im just worried that now, he has my liscence plate number, wuts the worse thing he can do to me?

(im new to honda-tech, drive a 98 cw type r)

just to clarify, he drove into the side of your car? how can that be your fault?

yep, he got the wheels so he probably should have gotten bumpers with it! haha

I don't think you're at fault, he ran into you. You can't hit him with the side of your car haha

you should have called for a cop to make a report on the scene. but if you did not i sujest you do it asap. you don't want him to change things around on you. by the way you described it, it was his fault.

What a tard! I wouldn't sweat it. If he would have done anything, he'd have called the cops at the time of the "accident". Maybe he just gets off on pain. I mean, what the hell, two times in one month?

Funny I almost killed a bum yesterday going like 50mph. I think he was suicidal. It was kinda sad. It was dark outside and he walked right in front of my car, on purpose. I barely swerved out of the way of him while not losing control of my car, and then 2 cars behind me did teh same thing. It was really, really weird. I would explain more but it's 2am and im tired as ****...

I had a similar situation about 6 months ago and now I'm being sued for $950,000
Be careful the jerk does not pull some lawyer out of his ***.

I also was not a fault but it seems not to matter, the cops seem to take the side of a supposed pedestrian over a motorist.

Definitely not. I smell something fishy here. Second time this has happened to him? He's either a true MORON or he's pulling a scam; sue your *** off.
You definitely should've called the cops and filed a report. This can come back to haunt you..

You are not the first. A Bum did the same thing to my mom and he was killed. My mom was driving a montero sport at the time. She was at the on ram and the bum was all the way next to the highway and just leaped right in to the front of the car. Some pretty sad ****. But he was not thinking of the affect it can have on a person who is hitting him

Well glad I wouldn't have been the first person to do that. Did your mom get in any kind of trouble? I know it wasn't her fault at all but i'm sure they at least questioned her about it....

Those motorized scooters aren't street legal. He might have gotten a ticket if you had called the cops. Hopefully he won't claim a 'hit and run' on you. But at least you had a witness with you.

That's so sad, even if he did it deliberately. Back when I was in high school, a guy I knew was speeding to get back to school during lunch and killed a kid on rollerblades after speeding through a yellow light. Think about those repercussions! I swear, car are fun for some of us, buy they are often rolling coffins. Maybe some of the younger guys will realize how dangerous racing is.

well hopefully you got his information aswell. i would have called the police to be safe and have a report written up... the officer would have sited him as at fault then you would not have to worry... and since it invovled a pedestrian with possible injuries they would have been out there alittle quicker than usual.

next time never trust anyone when it comes to an accident. always get a report in writing about what happened... because if **** should hit the fan. your only witness is your girlfriend the key is getting a third unrelated party to corroborate what happened> ( the officer writing the report)
