what timing belt is best? oem, toda, power enterprise, or somthing else?
hey everyone i am trying to get all the pieces of my head rebuild together so i can start rebuilding..my question is what timing belt should i use? i know oem is the cheapest and alot of high power cars still use oem timing belts. i have also heard alot of good and alot more bad about the toda belt..whats the deal with that belt? is it worth it to spend 180 bucks on it? what about power enterprise belts? i have never talked to anyone with that belt or have i heard anything about it.
thanks guys
thanks guys
no reason to run the tODA OR pOWER ENTERPRISE BELT (caps)if you arent running toda's or something real aggressive. or if you just want a cool looking belt under the hood.
Stock oem honda belts are perfect or pickup a GoodYear gatorback belt from autoZone.
i have a Power enterprise belt on my b18c and the quality isnt that big of a deal.
PE makes toda belt.

well im not using stock internals for my head..junII cams and skunk 2 valve train..i dont wanna take any chances with breaking a timing belt so i guess ill use the toda belt.
plus it adds jdm bling under the hood

What problems have you heard regarding the Toda/PE belt? I've never heard anything bad about them.

i dont think i have actually seen any tests showing how the PE belt is better than oem
is it just a good marketing plan that they have?
or has someone done the research that the PE is indeed constructed better.
most people i know have had the oem belts last alot of miles if its properly tensioned. the people who seem to have belts break are people who have it overly tensioned and dont inspect their belt on a perodic basis

I don't think there has ever been a test either, but despite the relatively few people who run them (and assuming that these people are also running "big" cams), I have never heard of a PE/Toda belt breaking. The same can't be said for OEM.
To me, the added cost is minor when building a motor, and even if the PE/Toda belts aren't significantly stronger than OEM (though I believe them to be), I couldn't imagine them being weaker, so you really have nothing to lose by running one.

I have heard ppl destroying OEM timing belts when they ran Toda cams, but after they switched to the Toda timing belt, the belt didn't break anymore. Although there really isn't enough info around to make a scientific decision as to which belt out there is best, I would at least like to think that at least Toda parts are more likely to work better with other Toda parts. I got the Toda timing belt (among other Toda pts), because I have Toda C's. Lol, of course I also don't mind the extra jdm bling either.
i would like to get some more feedback of peoples experience with the pe/toda belt
because i was the only person to ever break a portflow ti retainer due to normal usage, but everyone thought or heard (including me) that they wear out often. pretty much a myth

Stock oem belt gets my belt just look at the worlds fastest Hondas they all use the stock belt so whyy should normal people buy these "brand name belts"
Lol, I will remeber to post if something goes bad with my all Toda setup
. Right now I have the cams, the cam gears, and the timing belt. I also have a portflow valvetrain My motor should go in late this month or in Feb. I'm also getting IB to put in everything, so faulty install shouldn't be a factor.

That's a very ignorant thing to say.
You have no idea how often they replace that belt - stock or not. The whole point in using a PE/Toda belt is for long term durability with high-lift cams.
I wonder how often the 'world's fastest Honda' motor gets serviced? Hmmm? Maybe after every race?
PE gets my vote if you're using high-lift cams.

true, and just a guess the motor drives way under 50 miles per season. they can just tension the hell out of the belt and should be fine. but i dont know if its possible to loose power from a belt that is too tight.

im not saying you are wrong or right, but why do you believe that, P.E. > honda belts ?

Toda C's? Toda Gears? Toda Belt?... and you slack on the more important pieces of the motor?...
Portflow springs = Alaniz = ITR outers w/ stiffer inners.. running that on Toda C's.
just hope you don't drop a valve.
Atleast get JG Pro-Series for the cost... which has been proven to handle up to 13mm lift. and 10k revs w/ no problem.
Hit me up if you need it..
