Default another brake question.....

around march time i should be dropping in a b18, at the moment i have front discs and rear drums with ABS. my question is..... will i be ok keeping the drums at the rear and just upgrading the fronts? i'll be using it for the 1/4 mile on the odd occasion, it'll be my daily driver but i dont drive like a madman on the streets.

thanks

I too have the same brake setup on my 94 Civic hatch. However, I replaced the front rotors for some Brembo (cross-drilled/slotted) units along with VGX semi-metallic brake pads. They DO make a difference.... especially on those "sudden stops". Just remember to never used ORGANIC brake pads on the new rotors 'cause the material they are made of will eat the rotors up. Oh yeah, look on e-Bay for some killer deals on the Brembo rotors... They are usually going for as low as $100 for the front pair.

I highly doubt that the rotors made that big of a difference. It's all in the pads

upgrading the fronts and not the rears will "work"... however it will leave you with even MORE of a tendency to "nose dive" on hard braking... it's not the worst thing in the world but it WILL decrease your stopping ability... as you stop hard it will send just about ALL the weight of the car onto the two front tires... instead of trying to balance the weight/traction between the rears and the fronts...

When I upgraded to rear disk on my ex (no front upgrade) I can't even begin to describe the increase in not only braking performance but feel... the car stays nice and even, even in the most hard braking situation...

I'd take rear disk with stock fronts over upgraded fronts with stock drums in the rear ANY DAY...

But like mentioned it will work...
