Default B20 non-VTEC

OK, I was starting on my B20 VTEC build up but I talked to a lot of people about it and heard a TON of horror stories on non-sleeved blocks. I don't have the money or available down time to sleeve my block so I am now considering B20 non-VTEC. I've seen some pretty impressive times and numbers with them. A buddy of mine was running constant 14.7's in his 99 HX coupe with cams and a header. What do people think about power from these build-ups? I'd be using my same JE 11.5:1 pistons with Eagle rods and would have the head fully ported. I'd run either Crower 403 or 404's cams along with their full valvetrain. All imput is appreciated.
