Default Anyone in the Southeast have a NSX I could drive?

I'm fixing to start a new job with the FBI (hopefully ) the beginning of this year and it won't be all that long before the R is paid off. I probably won't sell it but I'll have to spend the extra cash on something NSX is a prime choice so far. I've been thinking about a few other cars, but in terms of overall performance and reliability it ranks up there pretty high. I've got to ride in a friends a long time ago, but he didn't live close and I never asked to drive it. However, if I decide on getting one I would like a test drive to see if its really what I want. I don't want to slide it around or anything (I've never had a wreck ever, knock on wood), but would like to get a feel for its abilities on the street. If any owners would be willing to let me ride shotgun during a track event (I would never ask to drive on track so don't worry) that would be a major plus. I'll let them ride shotgun in the R for repayment

I believe chudson and ak are in the SE and on this forum. You may want to PM them when you get a chance. Or you can come to Tulsa...

Honestly you can do sooo much better May I suggest a late model (MKIV) Supra? From your "SUPER HIGH" post count I can understand your wanting to step up to the Honda flagship, being around Hondas will do that. But after driving a stock Supra TT, you'll never want a Honda/Acura (even a RWD Honda) again (trust me).

Think about it like this... What will $5000 buy you for each car?

Supra: A lot more than yo can get for the NSX
NSX: 1x ARC Titanium exhaust (last time I checked, the FBI didn't pay like that)
You get the picture, right?

Good luck with the new (hopefully) job.

I think that you're just a little biased wouldn't you say? To tell you the truth, I have driven a stock 94 tt and while it felt robust and tourqey, theres no way in hell I would take that over almost any honda I have owned. The supra was fast but damn was it a pig, it's rather heavy and unballanced at speed (stock this is). The turbo thrill is nice, but give me the feeling of a 2000 lbs VTEC equiped Honda and it's no contest. Speed/power is deffinately not the issue either, for example, DOHCarps 92 si wieghs in at 2200 and has (had) a stock LSVTEC turbo that runs 11's....so for the price....imagine what $5000 will do to a civic?

Another good local friend has a 97 supra that also runs 11's, but hes into the car for somewhere around $60,000 (it is sexy though) as where DOHCarp's car cost total of like $7000. Pay for bling or perfomance? hmmmm...You get the picture right? I'm not discrediting the perfomance or potential of the Supra, but if we're just talking $'s.......

Back to topic, the NSX stock vs. Supra stock, is a surperior car, although a tad more expenxive....but the old cliche..."you get what you pay for". For me it 'd be the NSX all the way. Good luck with the purchase on the NSX Aero.

So, that's the topic of this thread?!? The best thing about this forum is that nearly every thread ends up being about NSX vs. Supra.

Ha, oh ya sorry Aero, didn't mean to jack the thread....I guess, as in normal H-T fashion, the original topic changed, so on that note...if I had an NSX I would let you drive it!!

Well IF I do decide to ever purchase a NSX it will be for the responsiveness, balance, and excitement. If I want a drag car I will be looking somewhere else. Since I already have an ITR and Civic hatch, either one which could become full track cars, and I don't plan on selling either, the NSX purpose would be as an exciting semi daily driver and I wouldn't mind having something that turned some heads every now and then.

That said I have considered the Supra as well as a few other cars, it just all depends on what I will want at that point. For the price of either car used I could have a brand new EVO as well which is tempting to think about.

It's really just imagining right now.

Comparing a Civic to a Supra is just silly. A Supra never impressed you the way a Honda anything has? lol Oh jeebus.

If it's all about potential comparing a Civic or an NSX to a Supra is assinine at best. It is YOUR opinion though. So as long as you are content that's all that matters.

Buying something that excites you and/or makes you happy is always more important than listening to what some non-owner has to say about "insert car here." Good luck.

You can read very well I see. I was stating that although it was a nice vehicle, a STOCK Supra did not impress me the way MY hondas have. Is that hard to believe? Then perhaps you need to get off the computer more and drive.

If it's all about potential comparing a Civic or an NSX to a Supra is assinine at best. It is YOUR opinion though. So as long as you are content that's all that matters.

Assinine at best? Why? She stated the difference in cost for modifications between the 2 models, so I added another perspective. Although I jacked the thread (I appologized) I was stating my opinion, so get off it.

Please quit doing that. I am picturing you wearing jeans twice your size and a visor backwards and upside down. lol

Cool. Typical H-Ter. Assume all you want...but there's nothing wrong with informing people about someones vehicle to add to your point. Quit trying to pick on people for having something to say because you differ in opinion. My pants fit quite fine, thank you.

Hey everybody (Dr. Nick voice) It seems like i've started a little shi*storm, sorry

hondahans: The fact that you weren't impressed by a stock Supra means 1 of 2 things. First, it was probably an N/A model. I know it's hard for the Honda guys to tell the TT and N/A apart Or second, it was probably an auto. While autos are fine, they are somewhat underestimated.
Also, your friend with the "$60,000" stunna Supra most likely spent his cash on cosmetics (am I right?) Because with 60 grand I could build three 10' second Supras. As for the guy with the $7,000 dollar ls/vtec turbo Civic... it's still a Civic I'm going to go out on a limb and say 9 out of 10 Honda/Acura turbo owners secretly wish they're cars were Supras, am I right?

Knightsport: Thanks for sticking up for the Supra (can't believe you'd even have to) I guess only Supra owners know what they've got?

I need to drive more? lol Ponyboy will get a kick out of that. If Honda's impress you then you are by all means special in your own right. Then again, I could be wrong, the fuel economy could be what impresses you. If that's the case, then I agree, they do get GREAT fuel economy.

A Supra and an NSX are comparible cars. A Civic and a Supra are not. A Civic is comparible to a Daewoo or Hyundai not a Supra.

Just an impression of your mentality. No reason to get defensive.

Differing opinions are what the internet is all about. If that upsets you maybe it's not for you. *shrug*

supra girl, no it was a 94 manual TT (that I drove for an afternoon actually) in that real nice gun-metal color, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the car, but it wasn't for me. that simple. Subsequently,my friends is an auto though.

knightsport, We can go on forever about what car is better for what ever pupose/reasons, but it comes down to personal choice. Again, I wasn't directly comparing a civic to a supra, just the amount of money used to make a car fast. I just so happened to use the said civic as my particular instrument. I do get offensive when someone that knows nothing about me states something so lame..I understand what the internet is about but I tend to still beleive that Honda-tech is a little more mature (sometimes) than most other boards.

Anyway, no hard feelings, enjoy your supra's guys, and gals, I'll stick to my R.

damn why are supra owners the biggest jackasses?

maybe seeing the supra in the fast and furious has inflated their already oversized egos.

The fact of the matter is Supra owners are proud of their cars, is it my fault people are jealous *shrugs*? My ego has nothing to do with the car I drive, but you may want to check with the ricers wo constanyly rev on me at stoplights. Didn't the car at the end of F&F happen to be an S2000? And the writers thought that would be an fitting car to race at the end, what a joke LOL.
